Not just on a diet but gym straight from work as well. Lunch = something hot, dinner (sorry tea, I'm a Yorkshireman) is 400kCal worth of sandwich so no time for pancakes 🙁

Not likely to manage any today but pre-empted on Sunday with rhubarb pancakes and soured cream for afters. Will probably make up for today by eating pancakes for the rest of the week.

Read the first two pages of this thread before I realised it was from last year. Nearly made a fool out of myself by making a 26" pancake rather than 27.5. And lemon and sugar - does anyone remember that? What was that all about?

As well as the usual lemon + sugar + syrup and the banana + Nutella this year we're going to try making masala potato dosas as the savoury option. My second favourite Christian food day (after Easter Eggs).

cliche pancake day phrase: 'oh pancakes are nice, why don't we have them more often?'
and then you never ever have them on any other day.

I'm going all out for pancakes this evening.
Savory
American Pancakes with bacon/parma, cheese n maple syrup
Pancakes with Broccoli & Cheese & probably some other savory ones, but last year the american ones were very filling.
Sweet
Lemon n cheese
Kinder pancakes
Creme Egg pancakes
Cooked strawberries n creme pancakes
Loadsa spinkles & chocolate flakes
Reese's filling & all the others, caramel, chocolate, etc
There is a Gordon Ramsay chocolate pancake that I'll be trying with cream and ice cream.

I cannot wait!

Oops. Missed this thread. Sorry drac.

Mine were consumed earlier today, in the woods, having been cooked on open fire.
Sadly, as we had Early Years workers with us, there was no sugary goodness allowed.... 🙁

Two batches of batter made:

1. "British" for savoury (plain flour, more eggs)
2. American for pudding (self raising flour, fewer eggs)

Ham, cheese and maple syrup.

Just need to collect Mme North from the station & for Mlle North to be brought home by grandparents.

But, but they're such a pain..

And stink the place wrotten like.

Just open the microwave, chuck in with random arm movement, press Go. Ping' and cut the packaging open, steam eyebrows off with gushes of steam, slither contents on plate.. Spread copious amounts of Nutella with pallet knife, wash down with triple single malt whiskey to numb the scolded throat down.

That's wot.

I would normally say freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar but this weekend I stayed on a boat in Wells Next the Sea and had smoked salmon and cream cheese pancakes, which were very nice.

As it's just me at home, I don't bother with pancakes these days.

The Mrs and I turned up for a pancake party last Tuesday. When we arrived no one was there and we realised we had the date wrong. She still knocked some up when we got home as our 3 year old was sad there was no party!

Still we get to go tonight so pancakes two weeks in a row for us!

I was having pancakes with the kids every fortnight or so, haven't done that in a little while though

They're usually made with banana, oat flour, milk and egg, with honey on top. The kids sit on the kitchen counter and eat them as they come off one by one

Today I managed to make the kids and wife 1 each before I went to work. We went with lemon and sugar, as it's a classic. Still used oat flour as they're then a bit more filling and still tasty!

Little fluffy pancakes with honey and bacon and a fried egg on the side for my holiday breakfast. Don't think pancake day is a thing out in the canaries but I've done my bit.

As if three ingredients was too much to handle. 😆

Looking for some salad leaves the other day I saw a load of these on the supermarket shelf:

Garlic

I briefly inspected the tub. It appeared to be constructed of such thick plastic so as it would easily bear the weight of a middle-aged time-poor-yet-credit-rich person looking for an easy lazy answer to one of life's conundrums non-existent quandaries. I right then and there wished to find that person and see if I couldn't dispose of these tubs up their waste-pipe.

My respect for our species is eroded daily. Sometimes in great falling chunks, like a mile-wide berg of the Arctic Shelf falling away. Sometimes in drips, like the ever-present twittering of seemingly random fact-free verbs and consonants which somehow pool into the poison that passes for everyday/political discourse.

Lemon and sugar for me. Heavy on the lemon.

Me and the kids all had pancakes for breakfast. 2 each with either honey or lemon and sugar. Then cooked up a batch of cheese pancakes and honey infused pancakes to go in lunch boxes. Pancakes for dinner planned as well. May go for an egg on top and finished under the grill. Mmmm.

I've never considered the pancake itself to be particularly high carb (obviously its not zero carbs) but its when covered in sugar and lemon, or nutella it becomes not so T1D friendly...

...interested to hear what your concoction tastes like. Because I have 2 coeliacs in the house and simple crepes would win me brownie points.

I’ve never considered the pancake itself to be particularly high carb

White wheatflour, milk, whole eggs, cooked in fat. It's basically a stack of fried-egg butties served with a glass of milk*

*Except now the bread is also fried and then sprinkled/smeared with refined sugar 😐

I can't wait for tonight's pancakes. Damn you, STW.

Poly, not my recipe, it came from a diabetes forum. Flour, milk, syrup, sugars etc all high in carbs, eggs, cheese usually low in carbs. We have also found that pancakes tend to spike BG levels so try to avoid, but they are so nice..will let you know how it gets on, i suspect it will turn into a cheese omelette.

Just whipped up some flour, milk and a duck egg and made myself a triple-decker pancake bake with cheese and salami filling. Served with home made coleslaw. And there is enough mix left to make a nice lemon and sugar one for later when the first lot have gone down 🙂

In keeping with bike industry trends, this year I'm going to make the batter a tiny bit slacker and I'm going to use a bigger diameter pan to really make the pancakes come alive. Hopefully that won't cause any extra rolling resistance.

Can anyone recommend a good recipe for making fluffy American/Canadian style pancakes? I tried a random one that I found by Google once (can’t remember which one though!) and they weren’t fluffy enough.

SR flour and Baking powder plus use some natural yoghurt to activate the baking powder, let the batter stand for a hour or two.
