FWIW I'm pretty sure the board would have the replacement coach/manager in place before announcing it.

If there is one sure thing that can be said, it is Utd have **** all recent experience in replacing their manager.

I think this story got out before intended, but they have moved quickly to make it official and try and stay on top of the media message.

Rednap as interim, while they sort out a succession plan.

How long is De Canio's contract at Sunderland?

Rednap as interim, while they sought out a succession plan.

That would be brilliant.

I heard it's Karl Marginson though.

Moyes confirmed 🙁

Goodbye to any chance of the league or success in Europe for the next few years then ...

On TS now and all over the media: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/sir-alex-ferguson-resigns-manchester-united-hope-to-appoint-david-moyes-before-end-of-week-8607768.html etc

The only time you could believe what was reported was true was during the phone tapping saga.

Journo's wont put that into print, on the net? Yup, content can be changed within minutes.

Moyes was odds on favourite at 1/8 when I looked at oddschecker earlier today. Bookies aren't normally that wrong.

That's a bit pessimistic spacemonkey. Europe? yes, I can see your point.

But with a premiership winning squad, the same couching set-up and staff, a manager who always punches way above his weight, and given the present standard of the opposition, can't see it being the case that he can't win another premiership

As for Europe? Everyone has to learn sometime, somewhere.

I think its a good appointment

But DM doesn't have any pulling power for Europe's (and SA's) biggest names AND 'unknown' talent. Only chance we have is for Fergie to keep his hand in where it's needed.

DM: not won anything, not had any decent money to spend, not had to manage big time players

Keep telling yourself that and it might start to sound convincing. 😛

Or just admit that you'd be better off with Benitez. 😆

Well thats what I am hoping for 😆 it will totally **** over any manager trying be the new boss to have the old one interfering all the time. Best thing Fergie could do for united would be to walk away for a couple of years, let the new man do the job.

In a sense, Man U were punching above their weight this season. Objectively, I'd say City have better players in nearly every position, so from that point of view Moyes is an excellent choice for carrying on what Ferguson was doing.

Exactly ransos! We can't compete with City or Chelsea (or Liverpool) for big money signings any more. We're skint! And willr emain so

And Fergie, despite his success, never thought he was bigger than the club. Far from it. So he built teams, not a collection of expensive and talented individuals, like City, but proper teams. Moyes seems to have exactly the same mindset to me

I hear you but postion2 will be scant consulation in the premiership etc etc.

I don't think runners up hold coming home open top bus rides through their city holding their runners up trophy..

Especially not City this year 😀

New managers for Chealski and Utd, possible also a new manager at City, and maybe Arsenal looking like they might spend some money.

Wider afield, Barcelona licking their wounds from a champions league humiliation at the hands of Bayern, may look to change tactics and bring in a player or two. Madrid, possible/probable new manager. PSG looking to move forward also probably with a new manager. Dortmund starting to look like they are going to be stripped of their best players and maybe also their manager.

It is going to be a big off season, probably more to get excited about than the premiership season that proceeded it.

You are Mancini and I claim ny £5 - he is akeen cyclist to be fair.

Moyes was the favourite but the Europen thing is a concern/wory/issue - how will he cope with the extra workload - I assume SAFwill "mentor" him which may be a good thing or a bad thing

Its certainly going to be a silly-spending summer. Thats for sure. Though not at United.

But next season is going to be a lot more competitive than this one. I thought this season would be so much closer. That it would go to the final day to see who won it. I can't believe how poor City have been. A lot of their players who looked truly world class last season, never even bothered to turn up this year.

Very poor season all round we were wobbly all season but somehow have strolled it..it was like no one else wanted to win it tbh.

Some good teams about now and it remains to be seen what will happen next year

Bet if we are mid table next year at Xmas he returns 😉

For me it's more a case of, 'If not Moyes, then who?' No way was it going to be Mourinho, far combative for the board and owners. Pep is off the table, only other stand out candidate imho, of the rest of the field Moyes is as good a bet as any and he's very akin to Fergie in a lot if ways; builds teams rather than relying on stars, has an eye for a developing player, his experience with a limited budget compared to others will have been noted by the Glazers, no doubt.

Pelgrini
Klopp
Ancelotti

I suspect Pelgrini may be going to City. Klopp is the interesting one, will he stay at Dortmond or not?

Eh? My post was a criticism of Mancini - City should have retained their title because they have better players than Man U.

I'm having the joy of watching BBC World at the moment. They have a section on what the retirement means to the continent of Africa!
Just had an interview with two schoolboys from Jo'burg, who are apparently "gutted and didn't see it coming". We are now off for a stunning interview in Mogadishu and Nairobi ...

24 hour news does mean people file really shit reports ....

I'd be happy with Moyes with Ferguson mentoring as Charlton mentored Ferguson.

The guy has proved he can produce good strong teams with very limited resources and is undoubtedly an excellent man-manager. For once I'm quite excited about the coming season.

Of course, Jose would have been pure box office but sadly we'll never know.

So. Why are Man U currently in Spain talking to Ronaldo's agent?

Come on, do we really think its going to be Moyes?

Man U's Facebook page was updated with Moyes as manager with a 'we didn't do that from Man U'..

The Old Trafford club put two entries on their Facebook page that said: "Send your personal welcome to our new manager David Moyes".

The second message posted on Man Utd's Facebook page on Thursday afternoon
United had denied a deal was done and said they did not know how the page was updated.
The page was later deleted.

Doesn't look good for Moyes does it?

Assumed. It could be a massive gamble by him but it makes sense- he wouldn't leave one club after so long unless he really had another to go to though. Time will tell!

This will have been a done deal months ago. This is simply going through the motions to make it all look above board, so Man Yoo aren't leaving Everton looking like complete muppets

Not quite the well-oiled media machine you were jerking yourself off over yesterday though. This has been clumsy - they let the cat out of the bag a few games too early.

Then you have Dogleash and his BS ... Suarez ... Hicks and co ... THAT Liverpool sh1tumentary ... the list goes on ... 😀

They're 'British' managers when they win stuff. Like Andy Murray. Scottish again when they don't, obviously 😀
