Ten years (and six hours) ago today.
Parole due any day now?
Cool. Happy anniversary! I actually thought you had been on here a lot longer than that.
Do have access to that data on all of us?
Who was the first on the Forum ?
My profile tells me July 18, 2009.
Ner, Ner...

But what happened in the five years between… I have no recollection!
22/09/03 for me
December 26th 2008. Must have been a slow Boxing Day! Was on here before then under a different name.
I think all the old accounts say that Coyote… you were here before that.
I’m a relative noob compared to some.

Hmm - how do you find the dates?
I thought I was introduced to mountain biking, and I thought STW, by a guy I worked with in a company I left in 2000 but according to Google STW was only founded on 2001 so maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.
I was NoSpokes originally until I earned the right to my current name if that helps you check
10 May 2001 - nearly 19 years! Where did the time go?!
Dunno but I had this email from Chipps in 2006
Thanks for the apology. You sound about as reformed as we could expect, so I've reinstated your account.
Result of getting sucked in on the aeroplane/conveyor belt thread maybe?
Who was the first on the Forum ?
Good question. The userlist in Admin Tools isn't exactly in date order but Mark, Chipps and a few others are circa December 2008. I'm presumably that was the inception of the 'new' forum after the Great Hack.
Hmm – how do you find the dates?
I got that mine from an old email, but it's also on your user profile (caveat as above).
Curiously, my profile shows yesterday's date. Presumably then I signed up on the 29th but didn't get approved until the following morning. Was it a manual process back then I wonder?
I was around pre-hack. Might check my old emails, I can't even remember the the years I had articles published in the magazine and my back catalogue collection disappeared when it was decided that we didn't want that pile of old magazines anymore
Early 2003 for me. Just before my first trip to Verbier as I recall.
I joined some time before issue 23

Nospokes shows us just why some folks should just take up scrabble
And that was BEFORE I took up serious injury as a hobby

But that'll be post-hack rejoining. Pre-hack account with my full nettle-hating nom-de-plume was from about 2004/5 at a guess.
I just tried finding my original registration email from the old gofar site (wasn't on the topica email list though, so still a relative newbie at ~20 years), but it must have been to a different address that I no longer use. I was certainly here on STW pre-hack (dc) and then post hack (dc2.0). I've probably posted less in that time than some do in a week but it's a great font of knowledge so happy to keep paying my subs.
Dec 08 for me. Was that when the crash was? As a member before the crash.
Dec 08 is the default for many as that's when everything had to be re-set after website was hacked.
I've been here since forever - not sure you even had to register in the early days? I know you could change your username for every post - which caused much hilarity! 🙂

was that post hack?
Jan 16th 2009. Feel like an embryo compared to some on here!
Originally joined way back in 2004 but hardly ever visited as I spent more time on MTB Wales forums. Think I rejoined in 2012 to ask a question but it got no replies, went elsewhere for a few years then wandered back here after the other forum became a ghost town, still in touch with a lot of the friends I made there though, then it got closed post-GDPR.
This login isn't that old as I locked myself out of the old one, had a hissy fit and left but I had a lot of crap going on personally then. Considering I know very few people from here IRL it's strange how I keep on coming back!
I originally joined in 2004, the forum and my username have both been changed in that time
I went for a ride with IHN when he had his full name. I was working away somewhere near Gloucester I think
Yeah, I think I originally joined late 2004.

You/we did indeed, out to the Red Lion by the river. They were doing a barbecue if remember rightly. Ah, those carefree days of early middle age...

That's almost exactly my story as well. I think it might have been 2003 when I joined STW, although it was only after the complete disintegration of mtb-wales that I really turned my attention to STW.
Late 2003 early 2004 for me, coincided with me picking issue 12 due to the cracking photo on the cover. Have lurked here a lot since then 🙂
people paging brant in 2002
think I was in about 2002 or 2003 - not gofar though
I did the summer 2000 polaris at kildale, and met the gofar people then, not sure when I joined, but deffo prehack. Probs 2005 ish.
2007 Is the earliest I can find in my email.
I think I used it to join up with some bikers in Nottingham.
I wonder if any of them still ride?
I stopped hanging out with them after I was the slowest rider out one night and a couple of the fast boys fully broke me on some smooth grass with a gradual incline. 🙂

The same happened to me only it wasn't the fast boys, I was dropped by Binners.
1st Jan 2012 - Must have been some sort of new year's resolution. Possibly I was still pissed.
Mine would have been sometime not long after SITS 2001 where I picked up my first issue of the mag (maybe issues 1 & 2, can't recall)
Still a few people around now from this 2002 screenshot 🙂
I wish that the wayback machine had archived the actual threads rather than just the main forum page, could have read them all again!

Woah. That’s a real jolt Simon. I think I still use this forum because of past contributions from authors listed there who either no longer or rarely post… or are no longer with us. Time to have a think.

Me too.
or are no longer with us.
Apropos of nothing,
I've just been leafing through a couple of back issues looking for something. The back page editorial on one was Mark asking the team what they wanted for Christmas. Then a reply from Jenn answering "... another year."
I wasn't expecting that and it kinda broadsided me. Got a bit dusty in here for a moment.
I remember that article and Jenn's Christmas wish.
Never got to meet her, we were emailing about a possible motorway services ride around the time she was diagnosed and it never happened.
Think it was 2003 /2004 when i joined.
Sometime look back through some of the old threads and realise just how many great characters are not here anymore or just dont post. 🙁
2003-4(ish) I think for me - as per ^^ I think anyone prior to the Great Hack of 2008 gets a start date of December that year...
