Not sure about tonight, but last night it got down to -4.5 deg. C in Peterborough.
Supposed to be more snow overnight as well to add to the not insubstantial smattering we had yesterday.

Pah.

I remember winters growing up in the Highlands when it would be -27 for weeks on end.

Possibly.

Stuarie, are you in anyway related to Kevin Dangerous? Are you familiar with the Dangerous Exaggeration Factor (DEF) A slight chill when multiplied by the DEF becomes Absolute Zero.

Nah - seen -25C in Highlands before - had my car radiator freeze solid. Coldest week I've had up there only got up to -15C in the daytime, then dropped to below -20 every night.

From a pal of mine in Koeln today:
[img] [/img]
"Now that is a wind chill! From Fox Forecast today..."

Methinks it may be a typo.

Just back home (East Kilbride) after a long day visiting relatives in Stockport. Car thermometer hit minus 10 on the high section of the M74 about an hour ago. It was single lane from Kendal to Hamilton, with a few nutters in their Range Rovers venturing into the middle lane, and a fair few cars, incl 4X4's, off the road, on verges, 1 upside down and 1 pointing the wrong way. Th last gritter we saw was south of Lancaster.......

temp here minus 7 - positively tropical 😆

McM,

I remember driving through Altnaharra just before New Year 1996 and it was -27C which, according to the Met Office is the lowest ever recorded temperature in the UK (-27.2).

It was truly Baltic and a Talbot Samba wasn't the ideal vehicle for the conditions.
