Currently a pleasant 32 with a light cooling breeze and herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain.

Are they being chased by a black Labrador, which in turn is being chased by an exasperated and thoroughly pissed off old bloke?

Is "Moon Waxing" some sort of boutique beauty salon?

not sure if this is a joke, but coke has caffeine in it and will dehydrate you.

Caffeine-free coke doesn't. Oddly enough.

It's actually Caffeine-free Pepsi Max I'm drinking. Which given that I thought the whole point of the Max range was to be high caffeine, I find quite strange. It's one of the nicer Pepsi outings though.

Naively, I wasn’t expecting to get flamed for my OP!

Remind us how your first post to STW went again? 😀

The Spanish way to manage the heat is to close the blinds / curtains (and windows) on the sunny side of the house, and do the opposite on the shady side. Close/open as appropriate as the sun moves round the house. Open everything up to cool the house down once the sun's no longer directly shining on the building. Ideally you want to get a chimney effect going, with as many open windows as possible downstairs and the same upstairs, pushing the hot air out the top and bringing the cool air into the bottom.

We open the loft hatch to do this. It does help. When standing on the loft ladder you can feel the air flow.

Find me a drink that doesn't contain chemicals and you can have my bike. Water? Man that's just full of dihydrogen monoxide.

I have a a can of fridge-chilled aerosol cooling mist which is bloody lovely.

What kind of madness is this?

During this freak heatwave, health considerations aside, have you tried mixing your own "sports drinks" with salt in it, to retain water and feel better whilst getting on with things? All the water tasty salty when I lived in the 55c desert, although one brand had so much no one would touch it for fear of a heart attack.

In a new build hospital fitting steel work for medical equipment, no opening windows, no fans for air flow, absolutely sweltering. At least we're not doing roofing!

In a landfill in 25degrees supervising guys lay black hdpe lining.

The plastic was reading 40degrees so your feet are roasting it's highly abrasive so you are in full heavy ppe.

And
The
Smell

Anything with smells and excertion, binmen, sewer operatives etc.

Absolutely.

Actually that would be worse. I'm grumpy from 16degrees upwards patients would Not enjoy by bedside manner.

On a serious note; have any of you who seem to think this current warm weather is 'unbearable', do you suffer with high blood pressure? And if you haven't been diagnosed, perhaps it's worth getting it checked out. I've seen a definite correlation between HBP amongst people I know, and an intolerance of hot weather. Conversely, said people are less uncomfortable than others, in cold weather. Maybe it's a BP thing?

I would second the High BP, mine fluctuates between normal 128/72 and high 190/112 and when its high I sweat like a fat kid in a duffel coat. if its low I feel kind of comfortable with the heat. Though wearing full PPE in a flour mill in summer you sweat no matter how good you feel.

It could get a lot hotter in there if there's any error in area classification and equipment ratings!

I'm just in from a day DofE'ing in the Ochills.

28*c, not a cloud.

The heat coming off roads and stone tracks is immense.

And
The
Smell

Not been a problem since COVID. Apparently the puppy's dirty cage protests are unbearable.

1/3 iced water bottle and a small fan. In a loft room with slates to both sides. Only 30 at the moment.

More likely to be increased ventilation and relocation of the facility all over the nearby scenery.

On hols this week in Northumberland, as we are at least once every year. Place is busy but not mental and a decent cooling breeze. Did have to bail from a stroll on the beach at Beadnell after lunch today as our 9 month old cockapoo was getting too hot..
