Where do we stand.
Bought a new suit from a large online + bricks and mortar retailer - - to the same sizes as my existing suit(wrong colour) from them - wife collected it from delivery to store today ( she couldn't try on in store obviously)
I have opened it up tonight and Aside from the trousers not being the colour we ordered...nor the size.
Both items are covered in multiple tags suggesting that each item is about 40 quid less than we paid and the package is 50 quid less than we paid for the package.
Is that ok ?
Obviously we were happy with the price we paid on ordering but to have multiple labels suggesting that it's "worth" much less grates.
Be phoning CS tomorrow to get the trouser issue rectified anyway - would you pursue the pricing discrepancy .... And how hard.
What's the online price now?
Exactly the same.
I'm not talking stuck on price tags. I'm talking on the manufactures cards tagged onto the branding tags on the items. Then on the back of the same a label stuck on with the barcode and the same price.
Then on the cuff a similar tag with the same price on.
The stock code for the jacket matches what I ordered. The trousers mostly match bar the part I assume relates to the colour.
I've had this a lot with model railway stuff. One of the manufacturers almost doubled their prices about 5 years ago and shops bumped up the price of stock that they already had in. Stuff would arrive with a price sticker on it that was 40% less than you'd paid. There was no comeback, they set the price and I'd paid it willingly.
You bought an item at an agreed price, what’s the issue? Would you complain if the price was cheaper? What it may of been priced at another point in time is irrelevant. Was it ever even sold at the lower price or just came from manufacturer with a price ticket on it and the retailer has decided to amend the price for whatever reason. Prices change.
I often had to desticker products before putting them on sale at work and stick the new price on it but the online warehouse don’t, they just ship them out. Products are bought 6-12months in advance, price stickered at the factory. By the time they hit the shop there can be exchange rate fluctuations/changes to shipping cost etc etc etc that mean the retail price needs to change.
While your right. If they are too lazy to sort their labeling that's on them.
I guess the acid test will be when I go into the shop tomorrow to rectify the grey trouser issue.
If it's on the shop floor at the marked price the whole lot will be getting returned.
If it's not on the shop floor at the marked price then Its likely genuine price increases.
Not always the case. Instore and online prices can often differ, ours do to drive footfall to either the store or online depending what the company want to achieve. Again, you have not been mis sold, you agreed a price and paid it. If you are not happy you can of course return it. If it is a different price in the shop you can of course buy it in the shop.
Goods are not as described, reject them and take them back. If it was purchased online you don't even need that reason.
Your price argument is neither here nor there, you reached an agreement on price with the retailer when you bought them.
If the item isn’t the size or colour you ordered just take back
Pricing is a different matter . Black Friday doesn’t necessarily mean cheaper
I'm sure Watchdog or one of those other moany shows on TV or radio would have your back.
They love exposing unscrupulous business who make their scandalous living selling things for more than they cost.
One last thing from me then I will shut up.
you state you are happy with the price you paid? Then you ask how hard you should go regarding the issue? You have obviously made your mind up you want to make an issue of it with the poor sod who will be dealing with you in the shop. You sound like a joy to deal with. It is nothing to do with the person in the shop so do not take issue with them. I am sure they will try to resolve what is in their power and within your rights to resolve (ie refund or replacement). you say it is a big retailer so they will have a customer care dept that can pick up your issue if you are still unhappy.
your comment about how hard you should go irked me. I have worked in retail for 35 years and it’s this sort of behaviour that gets me. Day in day out I say yes sir no sir, the customer is always right sir! When a lot of the time I did nothing wrong but have to suck it up. People that complain to me in a calm/fair manner usually get a better result from me than someone marching in ‘going hard’ from the off.
Think about the retail staff in front of you who have just knocked their pan in for Black Friday and are now back at the coal face dealing with someone with buyers remorse……..
I am off to work now to deal with more of it.

Whilst I perhaps wouldn't have worded it quite like this, you have a point. Having worked in support for a number of years there are parallels to be had, there is always wiggle room in how smoothly and quickly your complaint gets prioritised. Your 48-hour SLA will get processed in hour 47 if you're an asshole.
OP, what's your preferred outcome here? As above, if you bought the goods unseen (eg online) then under CRA you have 14 days to reject them for a refund for any reason up to and including buyer's remorse. I don't understand how you suppose that can be improved upon.
You want to exchange them and, what, some sort of free money offer because you've seen a price tag? You might get a gesture of goodwill if you're lucky, but you sure as shit won't get anything beyond your statutory rights if you "go in hard." The required response to this complaint is "so what?"
If I were you I'd just return them for a refund and shop somewhere else. Plenty of places sell suits.
I was happy with the price I paid for an expected level of service.
Is it so hard to expect a shop to get the colour and size of items correct.
The shop as far as I am concerned have not met that level of service. AND have visibly made a mess of the pricing. - how do I now know the pricing wasn't just another of their errors.
Now I have to spend my time and money rectifying their errors
So yes I'm irked that I've been over charged for the service I've been provided.
If the service had been as expected I'd not have mentioned the price as there would be nothing to make me doubt it's just another error it as I'd have the suit I wanted at the price I was willing to pay.
Fwiw it might be time you get out of retail you sound a bit bitter about providing an expected basic level of service - ie getting the order details right.
(And yes I have worked in retail 2002-2009 - and hospitality -2005-2009 - I can relate to being ground down by it)
Fwiw pushing hard doesn't mean going in forcefully FFS. That gets no one any favours ever.
STW: come for the bikes, stay for the unsolicited careeer “advice” 😂
Well I am
a joy to deal with
But cougars right. I'll just return it and buy another in the right colour and size at the price marked on the label in shop.
Wouldn't want to upset anyone. Not looking for free money I was looking For advice on if there's any recourse on the price being marked up different on the items I've received along side several other errors in the order - the grey label has the right SKU for a blue trouser btw.....so which labels are right..... - on the trousers alone there are 5 different labels stating the same alternative price but thanks to those who answered the issue and didn't make up situations in their own head.
But at the end of the day the retailer has a non Micky mouse returns policy so I am covered either way it was never going to be a bun fight.
Sounds like shit service to me. More and more "the price agreements" are not happily paid at all but begrudgingly paid with a budget stretched thin. More often than not now choosing not to purchase anything at all. Made one black friday purchase this year for £4. I'd be pissed off in op's situation too.
Two issues really:
-price tags lower than you paid
-incorrect items sent
1st is not an issue to be complained about.
The two taken together turns the first into a minor insult. If you wanna take it up with CS complain about the second and use the first as a means to ask for a partial refund.
It's all good turns out I was dealing with professionals
New trews be here Monday and the cost difference refunded along with all postage.
Without really even having to ask for it.
They suggested that they had lots of these issues recently due to inability to staff up to demand with competent staff .
All good
I have opened it up tonight and Aside from the trousers not being the colour we ordered…nor the size.
Is this not the main problem?
