You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I uploaded a video to FB the other day and when I restarted the computer today, it asked me if I wanted to install i-Livid or Bandoo. I'd never heard of them and said no.
Just opened my browser (Windows 7) and there's a new toolbar there (GRRRR!!) which seems to be sponsored by Wise Convert (a file conversion tool). I've Googled ilivid and bandoo and it looks like they're annoying but safe, as well as a pain in the backside to get rid of.
But how do I get rid of this bloody toolbar? Any help gratefully received, TIA.
windows 7 is an operating system. a browser is something like google chrome or internet explorer. sorry if you knew - but which browser is it?
Sorry, yes, Chrome... Have just found Old Timer and a couple of WiseConvert files in my downloads folder and deleted them, but fear they've already done their damage as toolbar is still mocking me...
My interwebs also look funny, with half the page a different colour 🙁 Off to run MSE.
Found a few other traces which have been deleted, but toolbar still there. MSE found nowt, running SuperAntiSpyware now and will try a reboot. Anyone any ideas?
Spanner button in Chrome, settings, extensions, delete/disable it?
If you look at processes in taskmanager, you may be able to spot the offending file (google to check) and then you can hunt it down and destroy it.
Yes! Ace, cheers Martin - the former suggestion has disappeared it. How on earth it got in is beyond me. The big machine never gets to look at anything interesting as it's a work machine and I can't have it stuffed full of crap, so it's clean as a whistle.
You still should google the toolbar name to find any .exe names it's associated with and check around to see if they are lurking about in the background processes.
Bottom of this page has a list.

Seem to have killed every last trace of it now, cheers. Also just remembered that Mrs Removed was on this machine all of yesterday evening trying to find knitting patterns (I know, rock 'n' roll) and she did ask a few questions about 'allowing' stuff to download... I pretty much just said, yeah whatever, as I was working on the laptop downstairs... SAS picked up a bazillion nasty looking things - almost all cookies - there are normally a few STW cookies and not much else.
*bans knitting*
Before you do a scan it's usually a good idea to delete all cookies/internet history, otherwise it'll complain about all your cookies which are pretty much all harmless.
