After many years away from uni and due to big changes in our training dept I'm having to go back and do a load of essays in order to go on and do further training at my work. It's been many years since I've had to do this and when I did everything was hand written and any charts etc were drawn..
No major hassles doing the essays on the computer but am having problems finding some sort of simple programme I can find to help me with graphs and piecharts that I can then cut and paste into my text.
I'm no IT expert but am reasonably computer literate so as you can imagine this is annoying. If anyone can offer any suggestions or give any advice I'd be grateful.
Thanks.
Firstly, Excel is easy to use if it's simple pie charts.
Secondly, because you mentioned pie charts, some bright spark will be along shortly with that link.
Can't you do them in Google Docs?
Use the spreadsheet, create your chart and save it as a PNG to paste it into your own document.

Seriously though, I find Excel very easy to use to make pie charts. And there;s loads of Excel experts if you get stuck!
If you don't have excel, you can use Google Docs online for free or OpenOffice is a free download. Don't waste your money on Excel if all you want to do is draw a few graphs
What are you writing the essays in? I guess MS Word. Word will let you insert a chart, which is very similar to Excel without needing to buy or install anything new. Tell us the version of word you are using and the type of graph (bar, line, scatter etc) and someone will point you in the right direction.
