I've just discovered that the new HP B110 printer we've bought doesn't like my laptop's XP64 OS. It does support XP32 and Vista and 7 64-bit though. Is there anyway of cheating the system to get it to work, or do I need to upgrade to Win7?
Do HP do the XP64 driver for this model?
'orrible.
I found this - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-and/Other-drivers-for-HP-Photosmart-B110-series-on-Win-XP-x64-bit/td-p/343540
The HP B110a and other wireless MFDs are known to finicky around 64-bit OS versions. Try a complete uninstall of all the HP printer software and a reinstall.Download the B110a driver package for XP from here.
The "HP Photosmart Basic Drivers" are sufficient for printing and scanning wirelessly.
Did you try the "HP Print Diagnostic Utility"? Apart from drivers, it can fix any other issues that cause the printing process to fail.
Take a look at the online troubleshooting FAQ:
Unfortunately for you (and many others), XP 64-bit seems to be one of the least supported OS versions, even by major peripheral manufacturers.
Good luck.
No 🙁
The disc says XP, Vista and 7, but it turns out only Vista and 7 are 64-bit compatible.
Would either of the other 64-bit versions work? Or 32-bit XP?
One way to find out.
I'd ignore the CD and get the latest drivers from the website. Try these: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=mp-62191-3
cheers. downloading basic and full driver suite. lets see what happens...
Not this model, but every HP printer I've used gets the same generic XP64 driver from the HP site. Works with most apps fine, but is flakey printing from less mainstream software. HP seem keen to ignore problems with the generic driver on the grounds that XP is effectively a legacy system already, so there is little point putting development effort into it.
What Cougar said and it goes for any future computer products you buy, leave the drivers in their CD pouch and get the latest from the manufacturers website.
cheers.
Cougars link installed, but was the wrong driver for my printer. The basic drivers for my printer didn't like my OS either. Just trying to find the generic XP64 driver that bb mentioned...
