Id like to speed my PC up and so can I get a new (old) Dell Precision T5400 and basically put in the hard drives from my current PC (Dell Precision T3400) graphics card Nvidia FX4600, and a few other bits.
so, just upgrade the motherboard and processor then?
or isn't it that simple.
or isn't it that simple
correct
you'll almost certainly find it won't boot up properly or at all and have to reinstall windows (assuming that's what you're running)
Make sure all you data is backed up before doing anything
So, best with a new hard drive too then, install Windows to it then install all my programs onto that.
Thankfully, one of my drives has programs on, the other has files on, generally.
Will that work?
The usual "increase RAM" mantra still applies but you'll also get much better performance putting your OS onto a solid state disk. And they're cheap nowadays.
SSD FTW!! 😉
