My inlaws have one of these and are being charged £20 a month for broadband.

[img] [/img]

It's a BT voyager 105 USB adsl modem

Are they being diddled? I.e. can this give broadband speed connection from what I think is a pretty accident dial up USB modem? The service provider have said they are getting the full broadband speed from it.

Not 100% sure but is this be correct?

Thanks hive mind....

They were commonplace before home routers. It's true ADSL, but 'just' ADSL rather than ADSL2+ or anything clever.

Use BT's broadband checker and SamKnows to see what you should and can get.

Well, it's not a dial-up modem if it's ADSL - so in theory it'll give broadband, but best to do a speed test if you're not sure.

Use speedtest.net and post up your results - that'll tell us what sort of speed they are getting.
