I've got and old-ish (2008), laptop which I just use for the odd bit of work now and then and it's started to get really slow doing just about anything. Figured it's probably due a good clean out, etc. and wondered if anyone could give me any tips, recommend any (free) software, etc?
The only programmes I use are MS Office suite, adobe, chrome, and err, that's about it, and I've taken a copy of any useful files.

C-cleaner is good at clearing space. The most noticeable thing to do is a clean install if you've still got the disk or do a fresh install with windows 7.
