Yes, road bike was about £1000, as was the mountain bike. My cars probably worth about £200.

YES....I used to spend silly money on cars, having lost several £1000's I have seen sence and bought my wife a cheap people carrier and I went into the company car scheme.

The combined value of my bikes is probably about the same as my car. Though this does not say anything about the quality of either!

Well, i don't actually drive so a car would be a bit of a waste! MsD's car is probably worth less than £500, so when we go away with the bikes we joke that all the money is on the roof!

combined value, easily.
Road bike on it's own, nearly.
Car before was only worth £1600 so bikes easily won. I took a perverse pleasure out of that 🙂

I'd probably get about £300 - £500 for my bike if I was to sell it in the classifieds.. so yeah, by a considerable margin.. 😀

Loads more. Actually 2 or 3 of them are.
When I bought my first car it cost less than the front brake of the bike I had then.
Even my Mondeo was cheaper than my rear hub. Got a newer, posher car now, worth nearly as much as my frame!

I don't own a car at present, but the two I have had cost £200 and zero.

Current bike collection is about £7k

IMBA poster on my wall - can't find it online, so here is a photo of it:

Best example I've seen was a Saab 99 rescued from a scappy for £50 and somehow coaxed through it's MOT. Arrived at a race with £7k worth of Bianchi on the rack.

Two of my bikes are each worth more than my car, or would be if I had to buy them new.

My car really isn't worth much though

Currently yes, except the SS which was made from the parts bin.
New cost of all bikes is greater than the new cost of the car. i did not buy it new.
my car is worth less than 1 k but with £30 tax and 60 mpg its a keeper.

One of mine is worth about twice as much as the car. The hardtail, just a little more. The rigid and the dh bike combined are worth about the same. Makes sense to me, I only have a car to carry bikes around.

3 are 2 aren't.

Car £650

Enduro is worth about £1400

Chumba about £900

Dialled alpine about £700

Why on earth would I bother to spend loads of money on something that depreciates rapidly, and costs loads to run?

Bike is probably worth more than car, esp given the state of the interior, haven't really bothered to clean inside since becoming landscape gardener 3 years ago

My forks alone may be worth more than my car! Fiat punto with more journeys recently with breakdowns than without.

Still love it though.

My son's Islabike is probably worth more than my car. The car might just about be worth more than his scooter.

This one is

Say, that's a nice bike.

Lets see, my car is worth about 6k. I reckon all my bikes added up together would come to more than that. So yes for me.

It depends who is asking.
If its the wife, bikes are worth no more than a few hundred quid.

In reality bikes would be around 10K possibly more

Car was twice that new but now worth around 8K.

So Yes, I mean No.!

None of my bikes are worth more than either of my cars, but collectively they probably are worth more than both.

Why on earth would I bother to spend loads of money on something that depreciates rapidly, and costs loads to [s]run?[/s] Upgrade to look bling but perform no differently

fixed it for you 😉

Mine is about the same, paid £800 for my car and £800 for my bike, don't see the point of paying a massive amount on a bike, won't make me a better rider or less knackered at the top of every climb. Not one to fall for the "look it's made of carbon/plastic/jelly tots" kind of marketing that the bicycle seems to be going through at the moment but maybe i've lost my zest for mountain biking altogether and need to move onto something i'll get more enjoyment out of..........this is more my idea of off-road two wheeled enjoyment at the moment 😀

(and yes, I understand that the BMW off-road market was bumped up massively by a film star and his mate going round the world with a TV crew on bikes similar)

Militant_biker - thanks for posting that. Quality and now photo-shopped to clean it up a bit and my new wallpaper 🙂

I just sold my car for little more than scrap value. Some would argue my bikes are worth about the same. My account at CRC says different though 😀

monetarily? yes. I had (until recently) 2 cars, and 2 bikes. Each of the bikes was worth more than both of the cars (~£1200 per bike, cars were a £150 mondeo (scrap value) and a £800 mx5). I have a pub bike (bmx) which is locked outside my house. The bike has been stolen twice, (once from outside my house) yet the mondeo, which is rarely locked, remains untouched..

worth to me? probably not, if I had to lose a bike, or my (now only) car, I'd lose a bike.

Current car is about equal to the most expensive bike.
All the bikes we have are certainly worth more than the 2 cars.
A free bike bottle would be worth more than the GF's works van, the things that work can be counted on one hand.

On a bike trip at uni' the contents of the car were about 40 times the value paid for the car, £500.
