Noticeably lighter this morning and didn't need my torch for dog walk, nice crisp still morning with a little mist, quite a few early bike commuter's that I hadn't noticed before and the dog shed his winter coat last night.

Spring has started!

Yea, last two days pedaling home from work and you can definitely sense the change.

According to the met office spring starts on 1st March, astronomically its at the equinox in a couple of weeks, but for most real people there's a day when you walk outside, feel the sun on your back, see the buds starting to break and notice a slightly different quality to the light
That's spring. Bring it on.

Yup, walking the dog and I had to take my gloves off because my hands were feeling warm. Forgotten what that felt like. 🙂

Started the dog walk in the dark but left the head torch at home and it was just light enough when we got to the fields. Hat came off part way round. Certainly noticed the change in quality of the light.

They were cutting the grass round my work yesterday, that's always a sign of spring for me.

Although, Google photos also reminded me we had a good 4-5 inches of snow on the 28th Feb 2 years ago in Kent... 😣

Funny you say that. I noticed this morning it seemed a lot lighter & the birdsong noticeably louder.

Probably no real difference to yesterday, but it definitely seemed different - like Spring has arrived.

Windproof over jacket, long sleeve jersey, merino long sleeve base layer, full roubaix bib tights, merino winter socks, overshoes, winter gloves and thermal cap. This morning's commute outfit says it's still winter.

We're certainly in that period when it easily switches between spring and winter. Snowdrops out but minus 2 overnight. And Glencoe is reporting more snow than they've had in several years - enough to cause issues in some places. I'm a traditionalist and opt for sun phases though, so it's not really spring until the equinox.

Oh - my Mrs says it's spring because her seasonal hay fever has kicked off.

That's what I've always thought too. I've only heard the term "meteorological spring" in the last couple of years.

I noticed lots of catkins when out yesterday, it'll be they buggers. Well, not the actual ones I saw, they're in SW England!

I'm injured and can't ride, that's usually a good indicator that good weather is on the way.

I just walked from one of our buildings to the other, and it was noticeable that I wasn't hunched over automatically from either wind/rain/hail/snow flurry.

I may not put a scarf on going home this evening.

was at my folks at the weekend in the SE and a walk up the hill was very spring like, magnolia was about to flower, primrose/daffodil/crocus in full bloom, only the olives and vines* looked like they were still asleep. didn’t see any lambs though.

*global warming and a maritime low frost climate means it’s becoming ‘European’ despite voting to leave.

spring starts on the spring equinox when night/day are equal lengths.
This year it's Friday 20th March

Ah yes, springs the time to sort out the moss on the lawn and weed the patio.

The patio is sortable, the lawn isn’t lawn, it’s just moss. It’s going to take a lot more than spring to sort that out ☹️

I think the biggest indication that its spring is that MrsRNP took the dog for a walk today unprompted!!!!!!!
