MARSIPAN

MAnagement of Really SIck Patients with Anorexia Nervosa.

This is the title of the NHS protocol for treating such patients. It seems to be a real thing.

Can anyone top it for inappropriateness and/or just general crapness?

There was a study we were offered to recruit for which was named after a racehorse (PHARLAP-RCT, since you ask).

A quick google suggests that it does exist, however nothing to do with the NHS

The NHS may not have coined it but it does seem to be used in the NHS.

We have a sap team and they are indeed saps and we also have dim officers unfortunately the department isn't big enough for the amount of actual dim officers we have

I've worked for several Business Unit Managers.

I felt a bit left out so I started referring to myself as the Assistant Regional Surveying Executive..

We used to have a research partner called ISIS. We don't hear about them so much any more. Last I saw was a news story "ISIS Secures Space On Campus"

I used to be part of a group that used to go camping walking and boozing together. We all lived in the shore area in Edinburgh

Shore Hillwalkking And Games Society

although we did make the name to fit the acronym

What saddens me most about this, and others like it, is that time (and therefore money) was spent coming up with it. People sat in meetings to discuss it, I have no doubt. There would have been biscuits, too.

For weeks we had a MILFWATCH Alert State projected in the office...
