I know STW love a good potential scam story.

A women knocks on my door tonight asking to see the 1 bedroom flat for rent. Fine but we live in a 4 bed semi definitely not for sale or rent. So I asked her where she got the address from and apparently she put out a wanted ad on gumtree and then received details from some guy from a house sharing site including our address(sounds dodgy). The women showed me some of this correspondence on her phone that seemed at first glance genuine.

So is this a scam and should I be worried? I am thinking that the women is innocent, probably the 'mark' and that the guy wants her to part with a deposit or something to secure the flat. Any other ideas?

Other than an elaborate attempt to case the joint I can't think of a reason to be worried.

Over to the floor.......

Or a piss take?.

I used to work with a guy that's hobby was piss takes. His favourite was getting two folk that were selling Impreza type cars to meet in Asda car park. I'm not actually sure if he went to watch or what?.

Another was on night shift. He'd call someone up who was selling a divan suite on gumtree or local paper, at 3 in the morning, asking about the diving suit they were selling.....
