I have been driving on the M5 over the Avonmouth bridge for years then within 1 week I've seen 3 people cycling over on the north bound side. The first 2 were on BSO no helmets or cycling kit and had been stopped by the police a third of the way over then today I saw a guy pedaling over on what looked like a tourer with paniers and wearing a dayglo jacket ect.
There is a path the otherside which is signposted but isnt that obvious,but to cycle on the hard shoulder of a 4 lane motorway ?
That's nothing, today I left aforementioned motorway under the pretense that "biltong" could be found at the next junction. Lies! Damned lies!
A couple of month ago I saw somebody cycle out of Portbury docks then straight onto the northbound M5. 😯
Fortunately I didn't use my usual language as the kids were in the back of the car.
He didn't look like he'd been off the boat for long either! 🙄
