The "winder" has fallen off my daughters watch, apparently it has snapped. It isnt actually a winder because the watch is battery powered so it's just an adjuster. Been quoted £120 for the repair which sounds far too much.
The watch was a graduation gift, not terribly high end but with obvious added value so ditching it isn't an option.
Any advice welcome.
What make and model is the watch? Did you go to a main dealer or an indie watch repair place?
Usually a piece of cake to replace as they have to come out anyway to take the movement out.
Thanks chaps. The watch is VIvienne Westwood model Trafalgar and it was an indie watch hospital type outfit. Thanks
By winder do you mean the knurled knob (crown) or "rod" which goes into the watch (stem).
Usually the crown screws on to the stem (or the stem threads into the crown, depending on how you look at it). Pics might help.
That does sound high unless it is a Rolex or similar.
Fancy a diy go?

The Debenhams in-house watch repair service is usually pretty good and very reasonable.
