We had a thread on Dennis's Treasure Island house a few months back. He died and his house was up for sale...

Perchy is a a QS in real life thats far to inefficent and colours are generally more expensive.

Trade magnolia all round his gaff i reckon, preferrably "left over" from a job

Maybe perchy subcontracted the decorating to @binners (fuelled by pork pastry products laced with acid)?

Actually viewed this and thought about buying when it was last on the market but could see problems with the neighbours and no real outside space. Guy who bought it ran a cannabis farm in it for a wee while.

My mums friend is selling her house soon, Scottish house of the year 2019 here, Lesley is such a lovely woman and such a shame that her husband died soon after construction. Stunning house in a stunning location (I'm biased obviously) but its getting a bit to much for her so she's moving back up to her flat in Glasgow, my best friend has been her housekeeper/cleaner/gardener etc for years and it'll be sad day when she leaves the area.

She's also very clued up with regard to the current Ukraine situation due to her lifetimes work on Russian literature and political structure of the country and is utterly dismayed at what's happening, she's been very outspoken for years with regard to Putin.

somafunk - it is lovely - all the best to your Mum's friend (though my academic salary is def not stretching to that!).

I have to admit to being a fan surfing through 'how the other half lives' type houses.  This one is pretty amazing! https://countrylife.onthemarket.com/details/11170545/#/photos/30

She's worried it won't sell, I seriously doubt that will be an issue.

I think there are unreconcilable differences relating to pies (versus stew with a lid) that would make any such contract between those two highly unlikely.

I’m totally here for this thread. That Glasgow house is incredible.

See if it was up Byres road rather than Kings Park, the seller would be claiming the decor was Alasdair Gray's work and there'd be a blue plaque getting made.

I do love a bit of "scottish baronial" architecture.  I men who does not want a house with a turret and battlements?

That's just down the road from me, I've ridden past it quite a few times. Place is a bit of a tip and the access to it is 1.5 miles down a very bumpy gravel track that can also be quite busy with walkers. Not somewhere you're ever likely to get to or from in a hurry!

That Stanedge house is incredible. Casually mentioned that one of the bedrooms has a 7-metre climbing wall in it!

Some interesting ones on this https://www.theguardian.com/money/series/fantasy-house-hunt

I stopped following it ages ago 'cause the unattainability got me down.

Wow - I used to deliver newspapers to that house 30 years ago. I might actually have been inside it too - I'm trying to work out who owned it. If I was it certainly wasn't like that - although clearly, the carpets predate that!

Anyone got a spare 2.6m?

Plus another £10m to completely renovate the whole thing and then another £1m/year in running costs.

Not a *house* per se…yet.

Shouldn’t have noise issues with the immediate neighbours.

@IHN - Windy bottom farm has been up for sale for a good few years and the price is extortionate.
I know the owners and they won't budge on price. Someone we know of offered the correct price and it got turned down. Everything else in the vicinity is getting snapped up within weeks, even that monstrosity that looks like a public loo, on Strines Road, just before you enter Marple.
