I want to put our toshiba running vista laptop back to how it comes from the shop.
I've followed the instructions and done a restore to a date in 2005 but all my stuff is still there.
I've put the product recovery disc in and attempted to follow the instructions but it's all gibberish to me.
On an iPad you just press the button and job done. I have no idea what a partition is.
Where is the magic don't press this danger button?
backing up a little..
Whats the reason for the clean? Selling, binnin, gifting or something else?
Easy way is to obliterate the drive, or just remove it.
Simplest way is to get somebody who knows what they are doing to do it for you.
Shell out to the command prompt , then format c:
Don't, really, don't
Boot it up, press F8 before the Windows splash screen appears. There should be an option for recovery or restore or something (I forget the exact terminology, they keep changing it). From there you should see a restore option. Though, it should be broadly similar to the recovery disc.
What specifically is 'gibberish', maybe we can help?
Where are you geographically?

This.
It's really slow . All we want to use it for is printing stuff when we can't get the iPad to AirPrint.
Open up Control Panel, then Add/Remove programs and remove all the crap!! In the bottom right hand corner there will be a little up arrow this shows you all the stuff running. Some of that will be crap if you have used more than one printer you probably have a lot of them running in the background. Much easier
+1 for the mikewsmith option. Otherwise prepare for 10 years of updates coming in
It's not easy because it deletes stuff. If it was easy people would be moaning about losing their photos.

Well, it depends on what you want to do and what you use your computer for.
