Is there a mesh screen that you can use when a patio door is open to stop rain if its not to heavy?
We are moving to a house where the living room only has patio doors and I generally like to have a window open alot. Especially if it's raining a bit.

but it isn't meant to keep rain out. Rain that lands on it might not penetrate but would probably run down the screen and end up on the floor 🤔
Would some kind of canopy on the outside do the trick? Like this linked screwfix one but wider and less ugly. Mesh still let's rain through so may no be effective against anything except bugs.

Every house in America has a screen door, see if you can get one of those? Otherwise I'd consider a little roof or awning type thing over the door.
