A few weekends ago we gave our shower a deep clean and ever since the plastic strips on the edge of the sliding doors (the ones with magnetic strips on them) keep falling off.

What hacks have you got to get them to grip onto the glass a bit better again?

A couple of drops of clear silicone sealant should hold them in place.

Simply replace the doors with the same size but 2mm thicker to take up the slack in the plastic trims.

I find it amazing just how many everyday objects and appliances stop working properly, right after you've given them a good clean.

There's a lesson to be learned there somewhere, I think.

Life hack!? Awful turn of phrase.

The solution as noted above is a few blobs of clear silicone sealant

You can buy replacement shower seals online, not sure if you can get ones with magnets but worth a look

Glue the doors shut and use a ladder to climb over the top. Install a rope in the ceiling just above the shower for exiting. Turn your daily shower in to a miniature assault course filled with peril!

If you silicone seal, take care to not create a water trap that will go mouldy very quickly.

Silicone seal, few drops of glue might be better, or maybe remove, make sure it's all clean and dry then it might hold.

Op, you'll be smashing it with these life hacks. You've got this! Don't forget to make a video of you crushing it on the bathroom scene for Insta.

Agree, another vote for lifetime bans for internet/social media speak. Where does this awfully chipper language come from?

The term life hack was coined in 2004 during the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference in San Diego, California by technology journalist Danny O'Brien to describe the "embarrassing" scripts and shortcuts productive IT professionals use to get their work done.

O'Brien and blogger Merlin Mann later co-presented a session called "Life Hacks Live" at the 2005 O'Reilly Emerging Technology conference. The two also co-author a column entitled "Life Hacks" for O'Reilly's Make magazine which debuted in February 2005.

The American Dialect Society voted lifehack (one word) as the runner-up for "most useful word of 2005" behind podcast. The word was also added to the Oxford Dictionaries Online in June 2011.
