...or does a happy ending spoil a zombie movie?

World War Z and I am Legend suggest "yes".

Shaun of the Dead

Most do as it's what the audience often like

OK..."non-comedy" zombie films.

Name a few others then?

Zombieland?

Spoiler......

Funny and a 'happy' or at least upbeat ending.

Chernobyl?

They are sort of zombie like I think.

Was it a happy ending though, can't remember, but I was happy when it ended.

+2 Warmbodies

Loosely based on Romeo & Juliet with Zombies.

28 weeks later was OK, but 28 days was brilliant. Fast Zombies were a good twist, subsequently used in "I am Legend" and "World War Z". Although I lik Romero's slow Zombies, where what kills you off is being outnumbered.

Big hole in the plot for 28 weeks, the whole of London and just a few thousand infected, considerably reuced after the fire bombing, but Robert Carlyle manages to find the only survivors??

Still they took it to France, which is more than England did in the Rugby....

Erm, where to start?

A) I am Legend is NOT a zombie movie, it is a vampire movie.
B) I am Legend is a terrible film (great book).
C) 28 Weeks Later is NOT a cr*p film. It isn't as good as the first one, though.

Well, I prefer 28 weeks to 28 days, possibly due to the happy/unhappy endings, also some of 28 days strikes me as a bit cheesy.

IAL is of course technically a Vampire film but has more in common with a Zombie one. And yes the book is better.

So ner.

If you are going down that road... 28days/weeks isn't a zombie film either.

They never die they just go from living and normal to living and flouncy.

And if you REALLY want to go all pedantic... A zombie is raised from the dead by a witch doctor who can control it and does not go around making more zombies. But I had to wiki that bit.

as everyone else has ignored the "non-comedy" stipulation, so shall I. Check out Wasting Away (i think it's a happy ending, can't quite remember):

I agree, but 28DL/WL are closer to being zombie films than I Am Legend which doesn't even come close.

is there a good Zombie movie with a happy ending?

Depends if you're the Zombie or the Zombie's food...

Didnt IAL have several different endings you could choose from on the DVD?

That's 'cos it's a vampire movie, of a sort; aversion to light, feeding on the blood of the uninfected, etc. Its vampirism through an outside vector, rather than a different species.
