I was thinking of taking my daughter over Striding Edge and Helvellyn on Sunday. Will the whole area be mobbed with post lockdown escapees?

What is the parking like in Glenridding nowadays, likely the earliest we would be there is 8.30am.

Cheers

Helvellyn is always busy if the weather is ok. I don't think the massed hordes will make it that far up though.

Was up there Sat & Sun. Parked at Cockley Beck (bottom of Hardknott), walked into Eskdale, climbing on Esk Buttess and Scafell East with an overnight bivi. That was all super quiet but looking over to Scafell Pick was nuts, hundreds of people on the summit and the path/motorway up from Wasdale Head was packed. Driving out on Sunday evening, every pub we tried was full and couldn’t fit 2 in for grub. So I suspect the usually busy places will be busier but the places where slightly more effort is required will be OK. Not sure which catagory Striding Edge falls but suspect you’ll need to be there early to park.

Not sure about Glenridding but I’ve been in the Ambleside area the last couple of days and it is strangely quiet for a bank holiday. Especially one with good weather too! Very little traffic and no queues at the usual hotspots around the town. Cafes and pubs were busy today though largely due to the Eat Out to Help Out discount.
