I reckon so.
Thoughts!
Hi it’s Sinclair from GumtreeUK, i am okay with the conditions and affordable considering others I've seen lately. I'm interested and consider it sold as am buying it for my first son as a surprise birthday gift and which i don't want him to know about it until is picked up, so can you assure me i will not be disappointed? i am presently working on the sea as a marine engineer which is strictly no calls. My Mode of payment is PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account online, but i have it attached to my PayPal account. Since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, I will be responsible for all the PayPal fees/charges on this transaction, if you don't have an account with PayPal, it's pretty easy, safe and secure to open one. Just log on to www.paypal.com. I hope we can make this transaction as fast as possible. Less I forgot, I have a Mover that will come for the pickup once payment is cleared in your PayPal account and they will be handling the title for me, as I Lolook forward to hearing from you with your PayPal information as requested below.
Your PayPal e-Mail Address :
Looks completely legit to me 🤔🧐😯
Ask him where he is on the sea.
Sentence 2 lays the emotional foundation which is frequently present. Didn’t get much further.
That's a nope from me!
My favourite was when I offered a room to rent in my house. The dad of a 20 something Nigerian model wanted to rent the room for her. I just needed to give him my bank details and no I couldn't meet her before hand 😂

Standards are slipping, it used to be a submarine
Sunk to new lows you might say
Anyway I replied thus…
Hahaha! Nice try. This is what you want to happen……you pay me by PayPal then send a courier for the bike. Then you contact PayPal & say you’ve been ripped off & they give you your dough back. I end up £1300 out of pocket with no bike.
It’s an old scam pal.
This is what happens in reality, you turn up at my house, check the bike out & assuming you like it you hand over £1300 in cash. I’ll even throw some pedals in, how’s that sound?
He then replied with a smiley face!
Just had another one though. Someone messages on Scumtree with ‘Hey, please email mom with your final price’
I told him/her to tell ‘mom’ the final price was what the advert said.
More than likely a clone link to a fake PayPal site hiding behind the real www. Not that hard to set up apparently

Ah you cut the entertainment short! You should reply in the affirmative, and start adding silly conditions of your own. Maybe double, triple, or 10x the prices in the process. It's fun to see how many steps through the scam you can get. I've had nasty threatening emails "from paypal" threatening me with legal action, including police on my doorstep within the hour and deportation, as a piece de resistance. All addressed to Mr. Beater. Dick, that is (one of my favourite online characters..)
Scam
Is someone wishing to scam me here?
Yes, me! Credit card number pls.
pothead
Scam
We have a detective in our midst!

Well that’s all the evidence I needed.
If Sinclair falls through I’ll have the bike, seems I’ve just come into a windfall if $20m from an exiled Nigerian prince who wants to borrow my bank account for half an hour!
Had an unusual one today, the IMF want to send me $100k as some sort of covid related payment.
I admire their ingenuity but really, the IMF?🙈
I had one a couple of years ago from some random FBI officer saying they’d found $300,000 dollars with my name on it & it was legally mine.
I don’t need the money that much so didn’t pursue it.
If it quacks like a duck..
There's a book called "Delete at Your Peril" by a Scots journo who invented a character called Bob Servant from Broughty Ferry in Dundee, who then gets into massive conversations/negotiations with various scammers. Tries to get them interested in various business ideas and generally wastes their time. The whole book is verbatim transcripts of the email conversations. Very funny and worth looking out for

It isn't obvious at first glance, but there's a DOT between pay and pal.
Edit. No there isn't, sorry. It actually links to the real website.
It's quite possible (probable?) that there was another website behind the link in the original email but it's not survived the OP's cut/paste into the thread.
I did actually think about giving him some made up Paypal account name but knowing my luck I'd give him someone's actual account name!
I should've had more fun & reported back really. Soz.
