I want to upgrade my Zwift experience to be piped through my spare 4k TV and for this a lower level gaming PC may do. So I've read.
Can I get one off eBay or is it better to stick to ie pcspecialist etc?
Thanks
Used AppleTV would be my choice. It’s a good interface. Falls down on number of Bluetooth devices if HR, power and cadence are all separate, but otherwise it’s all good. Probably less than a used PC too.
Thanks and yes much cheaper but not considering ATV.
I’d probably get a NUC and attach it to the back of the TV.
But to answer your question an eBay PC is fine, just be sure to reinstall Windows when you get it.
If you use Facebook, have a look on the ZPCMR page and see if anyone is selling a specific Zwift PC.
The Zwift PC requirements are a bit odd and just buying an off the shelf PC might mean you end up with something that doesn't work that well, or spend a fortune on something which is way more than you need for a good Zwift experience.
I bought a 2nd hand PC build from the guy who runs the page at the height of when graphics card were stupid expensive.
It runs Zwift in 1440p Ultra mode with no bother and cost £200 delivered.
I spent a bit more once I got it on an upgraded wi-fi card, but it's been great since.
Thanks Stumpy unfortunately I'm not on Facebook.

I just bought an ex corporate small pc and shoved a slim gtx1060 or something in it. Runs swift at high settings.

Same here; refurbished PC from ebuyer (by T1A - it was spotless) with a small SSD in for £130-ish and a 2nd hand graphics card from ebay for another £30 and it runs smoothly on med/high - I can't remember which, but it's fine. (tbf, it's the "smooth" bit I was after; the graphics are so cartoony that the actual detail level doesn't matter so much to me; even on the lowest, there's enough immersion to keep me riding.)
Btw what is an NUC and how does it differ from a desktop PC?

It's a very small form factor PC, limited in power due to size/heat restraints but fine as an office/media machine etc.
You won't be able to use a graphics card, you basically limited to on board graphics, so probably not good for zwift if you want to run it at 4k resolution.
Built with components more simmilar to laptops than desktops.

Yes, I bought a desktop a while ago pre-used with SSD and enough Ram. Recommended my brother to buy a laptop from them too and he’s been impressed too.
The seller was Birmingham-av
They basically sell old corporate machines that have been upgraded for a great price. If you’re not after the very latest then they’re good enough!
