Realistically i need to lose about 10lbs, can i lose weight and still train/ride (my bike) as hard as currently or will i be lethargic/tired/weak?

I eat a pretty healthy diet, but have a probably 14 units of alcohol a week, cake 5 times per week, maybe the odd chomp on the way home. I know these are areas to remove for the next few weeks.

Essentially think its down to portion size, e.g. cereal in the morning is usually around 150g instead of the recommended 30-40g. If i eat that size i am ravenous by half eight/nine!

I tried reducing my food intake and I ended up feeling awful and basically not riding. So I eat slightly less now (no snacks) but before a ride I have a sports drink (SIS) which seems to give me that little boost to get going. I also joined a gym, and whilst I'm not going as much as I thought (weather has been too good) I think that extra 45mins of cardo is helping too.

So far I've lost half a stone since April. Not outstanding but I haven't made myself miserable by eating like a rabbit or not drinking.

What cereals are you eating? quite a lot are too sugary even a lot of muesli has added sugar. Make sure you get a decent low sugar cereal that will give s sustained energy release. Then keep some fruit or something in your desk for snacking on during the day.
I made a change earlier in the year and found that after a couple of weeks I no longer needed the fruit to snack on during the day, but it takes time for your body to adapt.

Cut the beer. You'll lose the weight fairly easily, you don't feel like you've eaten less (so no placebo effect making you think you're tired / fagged out), and cutting drink out gives you more energy anyway.

I have been doing the iDave diet thing for the last 2 weeks and my energy levels have dropped through the floor. 10k times have gone from 42-43mins to over 50mins. The annoying thing is this week I seem to have actually put on weight.

Previously when losing a few pounds I found targeting when you take on your energy helps, so eat light if you are just sitting on your ass all day, but if going out on the bike have a bigger breakfast and eat while out, bananas or similar.

After this week I will probably be going back to this method myself after this week.
