Can't say that I'm familiar with her output and she looks friendly enough, but there is always a story about her on there at the moment.

Has she done something momentous?

Today's Swift Report.

Yep.

She's been Taylor Swift.

I'd noticed the same.  I think she's got a very good publicist who produces perfect puff-piece click bait stories.

Sky seem quite keen too

I note their other obsession - the nicotine-stained man-frog - is all over there too.

Seeing as he wasn't on for his usual weekly QT appearance last night

I'd rather listen to Taylor Swift*

*To be fair, as the father of 2 teenage daughters I've had to listen to quite bit of her stuff. She does do perfect pop music

I look at BBC News every day and haven't noticed her being covered that often, definitely not as much as in the past.

She's done alright for herself though, old Tay-Tay, she was no 1 back when I used to write showbiz news - and that was a few years ago now.

So in summary, it is you - and you need to shake it off.

Not really, but she does have 85 million twitter followers and 123m Instagram followers, 50 million album sales and 150 million single sales so is pretty important to a huge group of people that like to hear news about her, so media outlets (like the BBC) cover it

News, innit

The BBC is obsessed with a lot of things, website visits are one of them.

This ...

The BBC is obsessed with a lot of things, website visits are one of them.

Plus this ....

she does have 85 million twitter followers and 123m Instagram followers

Explains why they are keen on reporting things she does.

And now can’t perform her own songs.

And now claims in order to generate publicity that shecan’t perform her own songs.when in fact she can, she just can't monetize those performances by putting them on youtube afterwards as that would constitute a new recording to which her old record label (under new ownership) own the rights

Yes I read the story on my lunch break.

writes her ownmaterial and has stuck two fingers up to her exploitative former record company who own the rights to her songs. she also seems like a decent human compared to her peers

Welcome to middle age! Yes the media Press as we used to call them are now interested in all sorts of people we pretend we don't know of.

I find it hard to equate stars from different eras, but she's arguably the Madonna of the 2010s, she's had a pretty long career, started off as a cutesy Country Singer, reinvented as a very slightly raunchy pop princess and aiming for that 'style icon' thing as she reaches 30.

She's very good at using Social Media to engage with fans, going so far as surprising a few by turning up to their homes personally, enough to give all 100m or so of her closest SM fans the idea she loves them all on a personal level.

Judging by my Teens reaction to her, she's a bit of a has-been now, but that's pop. You can't appeal to 13 year olds for long and 23 year olds want music with a bit more substance.

But I guess you already knew most of that? 😉

I actually didn’t know she did that song in the video above!
As usual I’m 10 years behind (actually I’m stuck with 90’s skate punk and I don’t care) but she is rather good isn’t she?

Seems things have changed since last week.

No-one can stop her performing her own songs - the argument is ultimately about who owns the contract, the entire record label was bought out and this prevents Swift from posting the songs online; because posting a live performance of an existing song on your own instachannel is classed as distribution of original recordings and in breach of contract.

And a load of drama which makes for good copy

Not really into any music at all to be honest, don't even have a favourite artist and I'm about as far away as her target market could be. However, even I know she has not just had massive success as a pop artist, but also as a country artist prior to that. She isn't even 30 yet, so yes, I'm sure there will be a few articles about her.

She’s great. I can happily listen to most of her stuff. Having kids of 11 and 13 means tricky choices in the car but we’re all happy with Swifty.

And Hüsker Dü of course.

I have to admit I love Shake it Off but that's the first time I've seen that video and it's hilarious.

Nice to meet you, where you been?
I could show you incredible things
Magic, madness, heaven sin
Saw you there and I thought
Oh my God, look at that face
You look like my next mistake
Love's a game, want to play?
New money, suit and tie
I can read you like a magazine
Ain't it funny, rumors, lie
And I know you heard about me
So hey, let's be friends
I'm dying to see how this one ends
Grab your passport and my hand
I can make the bad guys good for a weekend
So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
You can tell me when it's over
If the high was worth the pain
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
'Cause you know I love the players
And you love the game
'Cause we're young and we're reckless
We'll take this way too far
It'll leave…

She writes a good song.

I remember hearing Begin Again and being blown away. She conveys a lot of emotions in a few words which is a great skill.

I'm a big fan of hers.. we saw her at Wembley last summer and I'd say it was in my top 5 gigs - and I've seen everyone from Bruce Springsteen and Guns'n'Roses to Fatboy slim.
Shes a talented songwriter and amazing performer.

I found Swift a relatively benign but all too brief respite between Frozen and Ariana Grande.

thought the tinydesk was disappointing promotion of a not very good new album. And yes, I actually watched it a few weeks ago, perfectly okay for middle aged men to listen to a bit of swifty. Er, I think...

alright perhaps this then...

perhaps leave it at this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzXhtLHVE04

.....yep, quite a lot of old guy interest and that's without digging in to Kanye's oeuvre

Posting a Ryan Adams performance is in rather poor taste, the man has a very poor reputation when it comes to women.

No shit!

Worse than that. Context: a post about middle aged men's interest in TS. I don't listen to him anymore. Mods can remove
