Good? Yes, I think so. I think since trainspotting some of his choices of roles hasn't been that great.

Polanski directing interested me, but it appears to be no Rosemary baby.

He was Obi Wan Kenobi, but he's no Alec Guinness.

I usually avoid Polanski stuff much as I would Jackson, Glitter or Saville.

I agree with Houns.

His early stuff was pretty good though like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.

I think he is good, but he has been in a few duffers.
Nice that he is a good guy in real life ,so that's fine for me.

In other news I just [s]forced[/s] insisted that my youngsters to watched North by Northwest (as it's a classic 🙄 ).They were not impressed ,actors have their time I guess 🙂

Houns +1 - Only Charlie Boorman is more irritating.

I'm with Al on this one. Although I really liked him in Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. And I've met him! Actually a really nice guy!

He's wooden, and as someone else said, a luvvie twonk

The fact that in the documentaries I've seen him in, he's supremely annoying, doesn't have any influenhe's on my opinion of his acting ability.

I just think he's wooden and annoying :p

Ever since I saw the multi millionaire actor criticise the poor Russian peasant for shooting an (abundant) black bear to sell to feed his family I've been convinced he's a cock.

Only Charlie Boorman is more irritating.

He has to be the most pointless person on the planet.

Apart from kissing McGregors arse what is he for?

I haven't seen him in a bad movie tbh.

I thought he was quite good in Star Trek 😉

Ghost Writer was ok.

He needs better roles though.

I was at school with him, he really was a nice guy then and still is. He's realistic enough to know he's no Laurence Olivier but he does what he does pretty well.

I think he just plays himself and not very well either. Star Wars I-III, truly dreadful acting.

As for Charlie Borman, can't take him seriously at all. There's a great spoof series on Youtube:

Episode 1 of 9:
