EDIT: I have no idea what I did, but something just happened and 369 songs are now added. Which is nearly all of them. Still a few that haven't worked, but a lot better!

I'm trying to move over from Google Play Music to Apple Music. One big thing it's missing is the auto Thumbs Up playlist the Google has.

A workaround I've come up with is a smart playlist with the criteria Match Music where Love is Loved and switch on live updating.

It works! Sort of.....! 🙁

I've got a playlist with 387 songs in it. If I set them all to "Loved" then 36 songs add to my smart playlist. Which is nearly 10% of them.

I haven't worked out what's different about the ones that work vs the ones that don't show up.

It's the same 36 songs showing in iTunes on the laptop and in Apple Music on the phone.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Sorry to say I have no idea, Apple Music seems to have its own AI going on, in my case my playlists seem to be on permanent shuffle, so playing an album - yes, I am of that age - tracks do not play consecutively which is mildly annoying when listening to a mix.

In relation to your issue OP, when I first sent all my music over to Apple Music, Only about 60% of my collection was recognised, due I believe to licensing bollox, fortunately its still all on my old Creative Zen... not that I use it nowadays.

Digitising music is crap IMO, as has been said on here previously, I loved the tactile nature of vinyl, cassettes and cd’s, often choosing what to play because of some connection with the art work or feel of the cover. As a result, it’s become quite faceless to me and I now tend to listen a lot less than I did before sticking onto a memory thing.

My shop play list of 2000 plus songs disappeared from all my devices when attempting to download it to a new iPad. Luckily one device was turned off and I managed to save it.

Apple music is not trustworthy.

I still buy records occasionally and up until recently CDs. But I think my CD buying days are over. I realised that more and more of what I listen to is streamed. We have Sonos set up all over the house and the convenience of streaming means I listen to much more varied music than I used to, which can only be a good thing. Also much more convenient for the car too.

I do still enjoy a good sit down with a record on though.

I'm trying to do this just using music from their streaming service, none of it is my own files that I'm having issues with.

Apart from the odd album that doesn't exist on their service it won't be my own music I'm dealing with, all my ripped music sits on a NAS in the cupboard.

I think part of my issue is that "Loving" a track doesn't automatically add it your own library, so it doesn't get added to the smart playlist and there's no way to find the Loved tracks if they're not in the library. Which is a bit pants.

Let's not forget that with downloads there is minimal environmental impact.

Apart, of course, from the vast server farms storing Petabytes of data. Apple’s are all run from solar and wind, but theirs are relatively new, no idea about Google and Amazon’s.
