Because it's Bing?

(Sorry - getting in first with the cheap shot)

Our work computers open with Bing and we can't change it, so I occasionally use it by default. It's remarkable - it almost seems to wilfully misunderstand what I am looking for.

It's useful for getting round paywalls IME. But not sure what else it might be useful for.

Edit: I've just checked and it's working fine for me when searching FT articles - as expected and without a paywall.

it's strange, i type to look for something in bing and it just isn't coming up with the searches at all (just some other results that have nothing at all to do with what i was searching for).

example i was wondering if there had been any professional indian snooker players and binged it but these were the results

microsoft battle activision for ...
lifestyle daily news the sydney herald
nov 2022 general electioncalifornian fair...
snap.berkely.edu
liveinternet. some russian word

that is results i am getting (none of them have anything to do with snooker).

Our work computers open with Bing and we can’t change it

Ours used to, we had to use explorer and bing as default.
The IT dept got so many complaints that they decided to allow changing the default search engine. Use of bing dropped to zero in the space of a week.
Then we got a new issue management system which was pretty much written for chrome, there's some functionality you couldn't get on explorer, so once they allowed installation of chrome, use of explorer dropped by 75% in the space of 2 months...

Interestingly, I've just 'Binged' that and all of the top results were about Indian snooker players, Indianetzone.com and desiblitz.com being the top two.
So it appears to be working for me, but I never use it anyway (does anybody willingly?)

Do you get the same results in a different browser? It’s possible you have a malicious “plugin”. I assume you have deleted all cookies etc….
