It is quite amusing but before you read that did you know what the Polish for 'driving licence' was?
I didn't know the polish for driving license either but a quick look at my european standard (afaik) driving license I see my surname is marked as line 1 and forenames line 2. I'd have thought Police saw enough driving licenses to know things like that.
Well I knew 😛 Its and older type of the "new style" driving licenses You could get, the "newer" one EU style (very similar to a UK one) clearly has Your surname and first name first and nothing above it 🙂
Well anyway Irish police one thing but the guys who found that they can get away with giving their name as Prawo Jazdy shared that with others and managed to do that 50 times. On the other hand if You have on the license you check numbers 1. and 2. You dont have to be a detective to know that its there for a reason. That means they are lazy or stupid or really nice people that believe everyone in what they say without checking it. 😉

Well thing is, that if You dont have the newer EU style one (EU style has stars around PL) I think that after some time You have to replace it with a UK one, its just a payment to DVLA, send the license, they keep it and send You a UK one. Ive got the EU style so dont have to change, but I think that was the case with the older one showed in the article.
They should at least have the plastic card type, as government was replacing old paper ones sometime ago.
Fault is on both sides, police for not checking properly and drivers for using the trick.
Imagine Irish police officers not knowing Polish for 'driving licence', aren't they stupid.
Hmm. Majority of the people on this thread can't even spell 'licence' in English.

Oops yeah, I get so used to having to spell it license at work (sofware installations nearly all use american spelling)
