Does anyone have any experience of using the IR injectors over HDMI?

I'm looking to locate the sky/freesat/bt tv* in a cupboard upstairs, then to an HDMI splitter where I'll run cables to three rooms. This keeps cable runs under 10m.

I'll obviously need to use some form of IR over HDMI, I'm not planning on using HDMI over CAT5/6 for the runs, just 10m HDMI cables.

I've seen a few different injection kits, anyone used any and have real life feedback on them?

*to be decided

You can control Sky (at least) via a smartphone app, negating the need for any sort if IR frobbing.

(I had a 'Magic Eye' for the Sky box for a while, it worked well but the TV signal went to custard when it was plugged in.)

I tried some IR injectors from Keene electronics but both pairs had stopped working within a year. I installed these about 18 months ago and they've been perfect - all the kit needs to be switched on in a certain order though - TV first to provide power to the hdmi cable and injector, then the set top box. Other than that they've been fit and forget..

Great, those Cablesson look just the ticket.

Just need to check if they'll work with the neet splitter. Their own ones work with it but the cablesson ones are cheaper. Sure it'll be ok!

Mrjmt - ours is set up on a neet splitter connected to a you view box - works fine once it's all set up, just make sure the screen resolution is set the same on both of the TVs

I run the video / audio over HDMI from the Sky HD with an HDMI splitter to different rooms, and then run parallel RF cable (standard CT100) to each room. I then use IR over RF kit from Keene to just handle the IR back to the Sky HD. You may have to use an amplifier to connect more than one RF cable to the Sky HD, but there are many amplifiers that now accept IR pass through.

So - audio / video via HDMI, and then control via RF to let you use you're existing IR Sky remote. Worked well for five years now handling not just Sky HD, but Amp, DVD, Blu-ray, Freesat, Media center.
