You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Left my Ipod in my jersey pocket and it went through the wash. It's ruined (this was a few weeks ago by the way so no chance of any rescue remedies).
I'll need to replace it with something music specific. I have a smartphone but don't want to run the battery down on rides.
The easy thing would be to get another Ipod but i'm wondering if there's anything else out there that i'm missing. I use Itunes to store music but would be quite tempted with something else so I can use Spotify (which I couldn't do on my Nano).
Sony players are really good, never had issues with them, not put it through a wash though 😆
Accidental damage claim through home insurance? if new for old and small excess you're onto a winner.
There are tons of ipod lookalikes on ebay and there are also tons of 2nd hand ipods too. What you could also consider is a 2nd hand cheap smartphone to store tunes on and you could run strava on it too if you don't have a garmin. For me, there is no getting away from how ace apple products are and if you're used to an ipod then anything else will pale in comparison.
May be worth going to an Apple store, they've been known to give out new ones.
When the iPod classic got discontinued a while back I looked into alternatives. I still can't find one.
Lotta wonga for an iPod touch when really all you want is a music player, and all the 'apps' are probably on your smartphone anyway.
Sony do a waterproof player for about £60, you can wash it if you want to. I use one in the gym, the only cable is the one that connects the ear pieces.
Buy my wife's mint retro iPod Touch in the classifieds 😉
*Edit, Piranha, I got one of those waterproof Walkman's for Xmas, for both swimming and cycling - do you have really low volume issues (even before they went in the water)? Can't get on with it, wondering if is faulty? :-/

The physical interface is a bit clunky by comparison to an iPod Classic, apparently, but then, what isn't?
Beauty of the Fiio is that it operates as a DAC, and capacity can be upgraded as cards become available and price drops enough. Firmware updates are available every so often.
Current one takes two 128Gb SDXC Micro cards, but it'll take a pair of 512Gb cards eventually, when the price comes down to reasonable levels.
For a simple music player, the Sandisk Sansa Clip is nice. About £40, you can add a Micro SDHC card. Pretty small and lightweight, handy to clip onto a shirt pocket etc.

They're great. Good battery life, easy to use with iTunes, small, light and doesn't duplicate the features of your phone.
