I've had my iPod Classic nearly 5 years now and it's got itself an unhelpful habit recently of switching itself to pause, even when the lock is on. It happens when I'm walking along and when it's sitting still on my desk.
Will a reset cure this or is it a more fundamental problem?
Doesn't this happen when you pull the headphones out - it does on my nano? It immediately pauses.
Perhaps the headphone socket is on the way out; dry joint or some other intermittent connection that is causing it to think you have removed the headphones?
Exactly what I was going to say, if you've got an apple store near you book in to see them, they're pretty good with that kind of thing even out of warranty.
Edit: try giving the socket a clean out first, just incase dirt is messing with the connection.
Or indeed try another pair of heaphones.
bit of gt85 on the headphone jack seems to have done the trick. cheers all
