Okay,eldest son is getting a shuffle for b'day.I was going to put some music on it.Mostly h'metal (dats me boy!)But my itunes does not recognise the shuffle,I have the latest v of itunes,so in the words of chewing the fat "How no?"
I had a similar issue...however, my Shuffle had been through the washing machine!
What message is it coming up with?
Nothing recgnised,no ipod icon pops up when it is connected
Is there any chance it may be the lead?
It's a failsafe to stop shite music being loaded, clear iTunes of any metal and it'll come up first time 😉
On a serious note - try a different USB port if you have a spare, worked for me
I am currently experianceing the same issue. It used to work - I updates Itunes it stops working.
I have 2 other Ipods in my family and they work fine just not the new shuffle.
If you get it working please let me know how! Apple are not helping me.

I presume its the new shuffle. Is the USB lead plugged into a powered USB 2.0 port/hub?
