Long time iPhone user, used to use the third party 'Swype' keyboard but it's no longer available and apple have included the swype option in their own keyboard. That functionality is fine, but despite turning off all auto-correct/assist options, the native keyboard seems to randomly replace words all the time. For instance I just typed an email only for it to replace "kind regards" with "kim rewards".
Any ideas, please, before I throw it at all the wall...
Do you not have the spell check option directly above the keyboard turned on? It should show you three options that you can choose from and then select one of them. The last sentence I only had to select two words that were shown when I was writing this.
Having said that, my spelling is pretty good, and I’ve been training the thesaurus ever since I’ve been using an iPad and iPhone, about ten or so years.
Also, aren’t you proof-reading your own spelling before you actually send things?
Try swiftkey, yes it's microsoft, but it's the closest to an android keyboard I can find on iOS. Android keyboards (esp Gboard) are the best ime. Gboard on iOS sucks though
I'm pretty sure Apple introduced an LLM in the last IOS update. It does the same nonsense to me too.
Another user of MS SwiftKey here. Its works fine.
I’ll try auto correct off. That seems better. Does that mean it never changes a word?
I had to go into settings to make the change. There was no option above the keyboard
I asked similar questions a month or two back... Have had non real luck finding anything Bette
iPhone hates swear words and I ducking love them. Right pain in the ares correcting the piece of shot
@CountZero - no I don't have the spell check turner on, I don't want any assistance - I can spot any mistakes as I go. I'm not looking for help with my spelling and grammar here, I just want a keyboard which responds accurately to my inputs and doesn't decide to change words at will. In the example in my first post I could see "kind regards" in the body of the email and saw it change to "kim rewards" of its own accord.
I'll try MS SwiftKey, thank you.
