I'm looking at

GymBook - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/gymbook-strength-training/id650113307?platform=iphone

Strong Workout Tracker - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/strong-workout-tracker-gym-log/id464254577?platform=iphone and

RepCount - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/repcount-gym-workout-tracker/id594982044

Would be good if it played nicely with MyFitnessPal

Any recommendations? Something else?

I have used Strong for years, but paid a couple of quid when they started out so am a free lifetime member.

It's the best out there, no doubt. Everyone at the gym would agree...there is nothjng on the app that isn't useful like some others I have seen

I've been using StrengthLog as it is free and it was the first one I looked at that was fairly simple to use.

Unfortunately it doesn't have a setting to log "Hogging a machine for ages looking at my phone" which seems to be the main activity at the gym I go to.

Thanks both - any more from the work day crowd?

I've used Jefit for years, it's really good for doing lots of different types of workouts. Not much in the way of guidance, but a useful tool to input a program you've taken from elsewhere.

Stronglifts if you're just doing 5x5 is fine

I've used both in the past, but Jefit is my go to

I use the free version of 'Strong' and really like it, you can only have three workouts saved without going for the paid version but that's fine for me as I rotate three sessions week on week and then change things up periodically. I particularly like being able to set auto-timers of different lengths against particular exercises so when you complete a set it always has the correct rest time countdown to the next set/exercise.
Also easy to substitute exercises for a one-off if someone ( @DrJ ?) is hogging the machine you want while playing on their phone, and at the end of the workout it asks if you want to make it a permanent swap or revert to original for next time.

Strong +1

The free version is great as long as you only rotate between a 3 standard workouts. Although TBH doing it as you go is pretty quick, and you can go back and repeat old sessions so as long as you can remember what day it was then it's effectively unlimited.

MFP integration isn't really needed, lifting weights doesn't burn enough calories to be worth logging. You can do the maths on it, a session with 7500kg of volume, say the average range of motion is ~2ft, that's 50kJ, assume your body is about 25% efficient, that's 50 *calories.

I use Hevy on Android, best one I've used, and I've tried Strong, Jefit, StrongLifts. It's available on Apple too.

+1 for Hevy - it's great to use when it's free and really affordable if you choose to pay for it. I found the free version of Strong was just a bit too limiting for what I needed.

I use Hevy, great App and links with Apple Watch for HR. Very easy to adjust workouts on the fly if you need to change weight / reps or add anything.

Seems like it’s the only App that’s built by someone that’s lifted more than their laptop in the last 5 years. Most of the lifting Apps are unusable when you’re actually in the gym.
