My wife has just got a new phone and while the phone is to her face the screen is still active so she's often hanging up mid call or calling someone else!
A google says it could be a malfunctioning proximity sensor.
Could it be anything else before I send it back?

Proximity sensor would be my guess too. Don't know as it can be much else.

make a call amd test it with your hand, the screen goes black
