My phone contract with car phone warehouse is up for renewal.
I was paying £37 for a iPhone 4 and now been offered the same price for a 5 or £27 for a 4s.
However I heard bad things about the 5...?
What do we reckon?
I sold my 5 and went back to a 4s, I prefer the smaller screen as couldn't quite reach the top left part of the screen with my thumb, sounds petty but it really really annoyed me. Spend years wishing the iphone would have a bigger screen then didjt like it when it did.
I say wait til next month when the new phone comes out and the 5 drops to 27
If I wait what can I expect to pay on my existing contract? Surely to the 37 I pay now?
If your contract is up for renewal now, just drop it down to a tenner a month on a SIM only plan until a phone you really want comes out. I personally wouldn't go from a 4S to a 5 as they're too similar.
EDIT: misread that. Just wait until the 5's replacement comes out as it must be the next few months if previous release cycles are to believed
I went from a 4s to a 5 and its lots better, the larger screen is a big plus as is its thinner & lighter form factor. I use mine in a case, I think its called a penguin? which I got from tesco, its essentially a flip open wallet which has room enough for about 6 cards. A thicker phone would be too bulky.
Plus iOS7 runs a treat on it.
did I hear that the next release is a smaller nano type iphone??
No. Same form factor plus a cheap 3GS esque plastic phone
IPhone 5 here and have had no problems at all definitely better than the 4s in my opinion. Currently paying £25 pm for 1000 mins 5000 txt and all you can eat data on 3 so £37 pm seems a bit steep but it depends on coverage where you are if 3 is worth looking at.
If you are not sure, you could cancel contract, keep your phone, go sim only (such as GiffGaff, get a fiver credit for each of us using a referal http://giffgaff.com/orders/affiliate/gravityslave ) and save £27/£17 a month while you think about it and wait to see if the 5s is released?
There's no tie in so you can always jump back on a contract if you want to. I planned to, but the saving bought my new phone and I'm still ahead.
Just upgraded from a 4s to a 5. Really happy with it so far, love the fact that it's a bit lighter, it's quicker too.
Paying £42 on Vodafone, unlimited texts and voice, 2gb data a month.

Over a grand for a 2 year contract? Seems like crazy money to me.
I just bought an iPhone 4S off eBay for £250.
Stuck with my contract of £16 a month.
(O2 Simplicity 100 = 100 minutes + 100 O2-to-O2 + Unlmited texts + 500MB data bolt-on. Easily enough for me)
went from a 4 to a 5, not a huge difference, but definitely an improvement. Not sure id be so bothered if i had a 4S though. I dont use many minutes so i got a low talk tariff, 100 mins, unlimited texts and 1Gig of data for 21pm which i thought was very reasonable

You're being mugged!!

Feel free to point me to a better O2 monthly contract - seems alright to me.
giff gaff uses the o2 network i think.

or any other network apart from 02 will be cheaper.
Yeah that giffgaff deal seems pretty good.
Roaming charges are a little sucky, but otherwise better than my O2 contract. Cheers 😀
I think tesco mobile use O2 as well.
Yeah I was saying O2 cos the missus is on O2 as well. We have both phones under the same account, historically so we could always update the oldest phone and give it to me 😀
Suppose it would be easy enough to move away from that now. Cheers.
My point wasn't really that I have a really cheap contract though, more just expressing my amazement that some folk think paying over a grand for 24 month contract and phone is a good deal. Even if it is an iPhone 😀
Three is £15 for 300/3000 with unlimited data. Good signal up the valley, too.
Might move to EE actually - my phone gets used for data far more than calls anyway.
I get around 10-14Mb/s DL and 3-4Mb UL. Its double the BT broadband, so my phone is also my home Internet. Not sure if the pay-as-you-go sim allows tethering, though.
Graham, if you are both on O2 you could both move to Giffgaff (on O2 so no need to unlock) and get free calls to each other as long as you top up every 3 months.
If one of you gets referred you get a fiver, then refer the other one and you both have a fiver so another £15 in the bank.
