Nice.

For me: red kidney bean curry. Alas, no quinoa (we had it all last night), so just a big plate of spicy tomatoes and beans. Yum!

Recipe here: blinkin' delicious!

I didn't bring lunch yesterday, so had to raid the Sainsburys Local down the road. That netted me a bag of salad leaves, a tub of four bean salad, a bag of carrot sticks and a tub of Moroccan houmous. Ate half yesterday and will eat the other half today.

Quinoa is awesome Ton... if cooked right. Bit of a nutty flavour to it and has a bit of bite.

Any recommendations for mainstream places to buy quinoa? My local Sainsers doesn't seem to have bags of plain quinoa.

I've found it in every supermarket I've looked in.

Normally with the world foods, or healthy eating section.

Homemade Roast veg soup with lentils for me... I find lunch easier if I just make big batches of soup with beans/lentils in at the weekend. Black beans are good in veggie soup

Chicken thighs/wings/drumsticks roasted in a homemade BBQ sauce. With a mountain of green veg.

+1 on quinoa btw. You can definitely get it in Sainsburys but it will be cheaper at your local independent wholefoods place (if you are lucky enough to have one nearby). I use it (and prefer it) instead of rice for a lot of dishes e.g. paella, tagine recipes, etc. It is not actually a grain so fine for iDiet.

Lentil soup from the work canteen.

I don't know if there's any cheat ingredients, but they certianly didn't bother with any stock by the taste of it.

No. It's a grain-like crop. But, because it isn't a grain, it doesn't have grain like effects on your insulin response.

Unlike couscous, which is made from semolina (ie like pasta) and does have an effect on your insulin response.

I find it rather bland on its own, but substitutes perfectly for rice with or in stuff.

Quinoa is properly awesome. Cook it with some stock/ bay leaf whatever if you like a bit of flavour. Season according to mood - so works equally well in mediterranean or spicy guise... lovely with a spoon of harissa paste mixed in. Yummy. Works as porridge too - but haven't tried that one yet. 🙂

Ah yes, now I remember your post in the other thread. Scotch eggs really are a thing of beauty.

FTR, I've pulled down 90+ recipes from Mark's site. Some are iDave compliant; some naturally not. Plenty to tuck into though 🙂

ton, if you get fed up of your burgers tasting too 'metallic' then make the mix up with 50% pork mince. Really gives is a savoury note that beef only burgers often don't provide.
