driving myself mad on Google, I've just upgraded my iPad to an air with cellular and although I rarely go off wifi with it( and yes I can tether using my phone) , I just feel like I'd like the option of a working sim in it....
I don't want to be paying 5-10 quid a month for data which gets deleted at the end of the month , I'm currently only using about 250 mb a month on my phone plan so I don't need a lot....
Is there a sim deal, or pay as you go that doesn't expire?
Is there a trick or hack to fool the iPad into thinking its a phone so it will take a phone sim ( I'm jail broken if it helps )
Anything out there or anyone got any ideas......basically I want a 1gb sim that runs till I use it ...
Thanks
Anthony

Um. Is there any reason it won't take a phone SIM? I'm not aware of any such thing as a "tablet SIM", the only difference will be the talk / data plan surely?
Yeah I didn't there was , but bought a 3 ...321 sim yesterday hoping to use the 1p a mb for the data, put it in my iPad and it finds it ok , I ring 3 about a problem registering on 3 Website and she tells me my sim isn't activated and to wait, I call back today and am told its activated but it won't work in an iPad......I have tried sending it a message and it doesn't receive .....after a bit of research on the web it appears the 321 pay as you go will only work on a phone, not tablet...
i use a t mob sim £20 for six months think its 500 mb data then unlimited surfing when the data limit is hit you have to top it up using a mobile phone then text something like 6monthweb get a confirmation then i put it in my ipad
also have a look on ebay for ee data sims i got a 6 gig 4g one for £15 iirc last 3 months
Daughter has a 3 payg sim in hers. It was one of those so much gig a month for three months sims before it ran out.
I just top it up as and when, it rarely leaves the house.
I'd be trying that SIM in a phone to test that theory, personally. I wouldn't trust 3 to activate a pencil sharpener.
Thanks all....cougar...works fine in iPhone but nothing in iPad.....
O2 do a data-only SIM for iPad, in fact I've just cancelled mine because I just wasn't using the pad where I'd need data, and in any case I can tether to my phones personal hotspot if necessary.
I can't actually give you details of what it was costing, it just tops up when necessary and I'd forgotten that the email address I'd used to register it was now defunct and I couldn't get into my account, so a nice O2 person cancelled it for me.
Worth checking them out to see what they offer.

How very odd. Every day's a school day.
I was told that my 321 sim would only work in a phone when I bought it.
I use a T mobile PAYG sim, £2 per day or cheaper if you buy multiples, but I only use it on holidays so it's the cheapest way for me, the trick is to use a sim cutter to get it to fit the small sim models (my first ipad took a full size sim) as they don't do a plan like that on a micro sim.
HTH.
