So, I've got a work email account that I want to keep separate from my personal mail account on the iPad. So I use the built in mail app to read my work emails through the exchange settings, and the ****in useless POS that is the BT YAHOO app for my BT emails.

Is there anything better out there? I can see loads of apps on the App Store, but who uses what and can you recommend it?

Help......

You should be able to configure your mail on your computer so that all mail comes into mail in iOS.
I've got three mail addresses, BT, Gmail and Apple, all show in the one mail app on my phone and pad, opening and reading a mail shows up on the other device and Mail on my computer.

But I want to keep them separate, and I want to be able to open personal emails at 10pm on a Saturday, and not see my inbox full of work emails, or even a separate folder full of work. separate apps works for me, but the yahoo app is so shit it's almost not worth opening.

Edit: Sorry, that sounds a bit whiney, just looking for alternative mail app recommendations!

Edit edit: and I did say iOS help - computer is fine with work and personal emails on separate systems.

The new Microsoft Outlook app (it's effectively a rebrand of Acompli at the moment) is very good.

they get listed as separate accounts in the mail app, when you add more account details

+1 for this, I have four separate email accounts working in the Mail app on my ipad, you can very easily select which account you want to read, use etc..

I just use the mail app.

Its integration with the rest of iOS keeps me coming back to it. I've several personal email accounts on it and 1 work account. Switching between the 'all accounts' view and the work inbox during the week helps keep focus - just like skids and bigG describe.

During holidays or for long weekends I just go into settings-->mail & calendars, pick the work account and turn off mail and calendar and contacts with the switches. The mass of work emails disappear from the 'all accounts' view in mail and my calendar becomes less cluttered. Come the last day of the holiday I turn them back on and hope that I don't have an 07:00 meeting invite for the first day back.

I have tried the outlook app (OWA). Having to open the app and enter a PIN made me think of GOOD for enterprise. I do not like to have to enter more credentials after TouchId-ing into the iPhone. The new OWA app has been judged insufficiently secure by our security folks and is no use at all to me.

[edit] you can use the mail app to get to your BT Yahoo mail can't you? I use it for a Yahoo account that receives Flickr notifications. Or have BT made it 'extra special' that it doesn't use SMTP/POP/IMAP and username and password?

Have a look at divide. We use that for bring your own, some people not OK with us requiring the ability to brick their device and have it pin protected. Divide can get past that by creating a work container we can wipe.
