coverage on itv4 again, so, who are we watching for, who are we cheering for?
Is McGuiness back this year?
no idea. i've been lazy and not bothered to look up who is riding yet. I'm hoping for some good battles from the usual guys.
here we go..
The biggest news arrives from Michael Dunlop, an 18-time TT winner who now is third on the all-time winners list behind John McGuinness (23) and the late Joey Dunlop (26).
Michael, 29, is focused on taking both the Superbike and Senior TT wins aboard the S 1000 RR: “We grabbed a Superbike TT win last year, which was a good start and the goal this year will be to go after both Superbike and Senior TT wins.”
He will surely have some tough competition from the other top riders who are listed below.
The other main teams/riders are:
Norton Factory Team
John McGuinness
Factory Honda
Ian Hutchinson
David “Davo” Johnson
Milenco Security Padgetts Racing Honda
Conor Cummins
Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki
James Hillier
Silicone Engineering Racing Kawasaki
Dean Harrison
Smiths Racing BMW
Peter Hickman
I assume Ansty is still recovering from his cancer. damn. he really makes it interesting
I've got a feeling Michael Dunlop won't be on it this year, didn't do much at the North West and I still think William is on his mind.
Both hondas won't feature.
I'm looking out for James hillier, seems to be on the pace at the moment, as well as Davey Todd. Also think Conor will be in the mix as well.
Yep, Anstey still recovering.
McGuiness is back on the Norton,by all accounts they had a bit of a fiasco with it last week at the NW200...
Harrison & Hickman are the main protagonists. The BMW is so new that Hicky rode the Stocker & won the superstock race on it at the NW200 last week, despite the bike being brand new at the Tuesday practice.
Michael Dunlop is racing for Tyco BMW but he had a crash the other week damaging his wrist so I'm not sure how fit he is.He got a podium at last weeks NW200
Hutchy is on the Honda Fireblade
Rutter is on the RC213
I think Lee Johnston should go well in the Supersport class
It will be interesting to see how quickly the BMW teams can get the new bikes dialled in to the unique nature of the Snaefell circuit.
I think the big bikes will be a battle between Hickman, Harrison and Hillier, but you can never discount MD and Conor had some good rides at the NW. There should be some great action.
I didn't realise McGuiness is on the Norton. If that's the case I wouldn't be putting a bet on him, I don't think the bike's up to it.
I'll go with a good year for Hutchy if he's on the Honda or Dunlop on the BMW if his wrist is ok and he can stay out of his own head.
Either way i'm looking forward to it.
Should be good. Had a couple of days over there last year but was a bit of a killer not being on a bike!
Would be good to see some younger guys coming through the ranks too..
Another good year coming up (fingers crossed for decent weather)
I’ll be hoping that the electric bikes get more running time and airtime.
It was interesting to see how many of them were racing at the Oulton Park BSB round.
Superbike;Hickman Harrison Hillier
Superstock Rutter Daley Todd
Supersport Johnston Hutchinson
One thing with the BMW,in BSB the engine is a lower spec than the standard motor as they haven't worked out how to get the 'Exup' valve to communicate with the control ECU.I don't know if they are required to run the BSB electronics at the TT.
Josh Brookes is not doing any road racing this year as apparently his contract with PBM doesn't allow him.
Bustaspoke
I don’t know if they are required to run the BSB electronics at the TT
They aren't as the TT runs to FIM rules (think WSB) not BSB so they're not restricted to MOTEC EC
U/loom, however on such a new bike they're unlikely to be able to build a new bike in time for TT.
Power isn't everything at the TT anyway, the chassis is far more important, just look at how close the times are between the superbikes and stockers!
