Looking at changing my pension platform and it all seems very hard to compare like for like with all the different charges on the different platforms, then I found this site http://www.comparefundplatforms.com/home

You pop in your fund details and it comes up with a cost over a period of your choice, what do you think ? I was thinking of going over to Interactive investor as they seem very reasonable  but when  i popped my details in it all changed  now the likes of Fidelity with its much simpler charging and better support seem more attractive.

opinions please

I was moved there when they took over my provider. They are cheap but the service is very poor and if it matter to you their mobile app is total rubbish. They have eventually sorted out all the problems but it took months.

I opened a sipp with ii to test the water and it does take a while to get a response via email which has turned into weeks by the time you can get a full answer, and there does not seem to be any telephone support that I can find.

I use Interactive Investor.  They recently changed the dealing system which I understand upset a lot of the frequent traders, but when I made some trades last week it was fine.  Cheap as chips too, the ISA is fee-free if you have a SIPP with them, plenty beat it for all-round service but nothing beats it for price.

Are you sure that the ISA is still free if you have a SIPP?  I don't think that's the case anymore.  Pretty sure I pay an annual SIPP fee and a quarterly ISA one.

I moved to them from HL, happy enough but comms is poor if needed.

Ah, I see they've recently changed the wording around it, but the offer is the same.  We pay a quarterly account fee, which is due whether you have just SIPP, just ISA or both, and we get trading credits to the same value which carry forward if not used.  There's also the SIPP fee in addition.

anyone have any thought on Fideity ??

They only do funds but apart from the .35% charge almost everything else is free.

I use Fidelity. I switched because my previous provider wanted me to jump through some tedious anti-money laundering hoops with a few hours to go before the end of the tax year.

Service-wise they're fine, both online and on the phone. Although they do refuse to deal with you if you say you haven't read the small print! Never tried to take money out though.

Your comparison site puts them in the more expensive bracket for me. I don't really understand the pricing model, no point having a cheap platform if it only sells expensively managed funds or with a huge spread.

I use AJ Bell Youinvest for my SIPP.  Ongoing charge is 0.25% and £1.50 to trade a fund, £11.95 shares, trusts and ETFs. Funds tend to be opening charge free, unlike some other platforms such as IWeb.

They also have a MASSIVE selection of funds and ETFs.

Charles Stanley charge about the same but don't have anywhere near the range, but do you really need it?

HL beats them all though for ease of use, and frequently negotiates lower fund fees, negating their higher charges...
