I've been looking for a boat.

Saw an ad on a boating forum and foolishly emailed the address on the ad. There was no location, which was the main question.

I then googled the image on the ad and it's for a boat listed on a brokerage at double the price. Realised it was a scam and just reported the ad to the admin, who then removed it.

Couple of days later get this email:

Hello,

I am located in London, the 150hp is what is recommended for hull.
The used hour is accurate and the only reason why i am selling it is to raise fund to treat myself.
I have stage 3 cancer, i will also need your prayers.

I have all service history, and the price include shipping within UK and europe.

Where are you located?
if you really interested, kindly send me your complete shipping address, so i can arrange for shipping.

Thanks

So obviously fake.

Now should I go along and then pass any contact details and information to Action Fraud? Will they be able to do much if I can get emails and mobile numbers from him?

Should I just block him?

Should start asking him if he uses bubble wrap or bio-degradable packaging for the shipping!

String them along and you're giving them insight into you. Even being the kind of person who thinks you can outsmart a scammer is revealing. That and the fact you've got enough pocket change to be shopping for boats. They'll have that info plus your contact details. You maybe won't see the next scam coming.

As per globalti's input to a similar thread, tell him that you're not an oyigbo mugu and he is a bush man.

What? He's such a criminal mastermind that he's going to get me on the blind side? 😀

He has a disposable email address of mine.

He knows I'm looking for a boat.

Insight into me? He will only get what I give him. Why would I tell the truth?
