Just came across a reference to this study, which links people's appreciation for crap shared on facebook to low intelligence, and for some reason thought it might have resonance here. I make no suggestion either way as to what reason it might. 😉
Is there also a link between intelligence and criticising people on social media?
Is the article a big meta-joke about itself?
I actually couldn't tell if this was real or some sort of joke, molgrips. I mean, how could a university seriously consider such a 'study', using such vocabulary for - as far as I can tell - entirely puerile purposes, legitimate?
Ah, another article from the Telegraph, along with the one about the poor darlings struggling on £190K a year, this does show it really is fast becoming the Mail with slightly longer words.
LIKES
I actually couldn't tell if this was real or some sort of joke
I suppose if they're making connections between the consumers of this kinds of ****y affirmative slogans and conspiracy theorists, spiritualists etc the common thread is people are clinging to an idea that there is 'reason' for things. Those Facebook memes are sort of meaningless but there usually some sort of reassurance in them that things happen for a reason, that things will happen for you or that you're part of something bigger. Similarly conspiracy theorists are really looking for comfort in the idea that all the bad things that happen are in some way joined up and - that if they are co-ordinated, planned and intended. Thats more comfortable than a reality where bad things can happen without any rhyme or reason
