Sorry if this has been done

Buildings and contents Insurance company are refusing to cover me during building work.  Their terms don't say they won't, just that I need to let them know.  I did and they replied telling me I need to cancel my policy at my cost. Have threatened with FSA, anything else I can do or any other advice.  Cheers

P.S. FSA = Food Standards Authority.

The regulator is the FCA. But they won't care. It's FOS (the ombudsman) you can think about approaching in due course.

Pretty normal I think, unfortunately. You might be able to find specialist cover for the duration of the work though.

LV were fine with us when we had building work done at the back end of last year. May be worth a call.

We had issues with this, mainly as we were moving out during the works. We didn't bother with specialist insurance as we hardly had any contents in the empty house and we carefully checked the builders insurance. We figured if anything was going to happen to the building it would most likely be a claim against builders anyway.
