I've got a concrete floor in my garage and I'm spending a bit of time in there bodging up a few bits. The floor seems to suck all the heat out of my feet.

I was thinking of laying down some flooring to keep down the dust, so maybe it would be good to put some sort of insulating underlay under whatever I end up using.

Any ideas?

depends how much you want to spend I guess.

paint it first with garage floor/concrete paint to seal it, to stop the dust.

Then maybe foil backed laminate floor underlay and then cheapo carpet underlay and top with chosen floor covering.

other than that I just use some old carpet off cuts at the varous stations in my garage.

Costco and similar sell matting specific for garages, they did have a big roll of chequer plate style stuff but that wasn't cheap if I remember

50mm rigid insulation between 50x50mm softwood ground beams and flooring grade chipboard on top, you won't be able to put your car on it though! 😉

Best thing is what I do

old carpet down when it gets mucky chuck it away
and put a fresh bit down .

but then I have un limited supply of old but not worn out carpets .

another good point is when you drop a small bike bit it doesnt dissappear .and nice to kneel on

do the same in the back of the van .

Old conveyor belt rubber will do the trick and you can still put your car in on top of it.

Or just paint it and wear insulated boots when you're in there
