Im trying to install minecraft education on my son’s ipad but the ‘get’ this app is greyed out and it says no permission to install.

The ipad is set up with parental restrictions but for all other apps he can select get app and it then sends me a request to approve it. Given the button is greyed out he cant send the request for minecraft.

Any one know what I need to do?!

Minecraft has an age rating of 9+, is the iPad set with lower age limit for apps? Who sets the parental restrictions? Have you had to approve paid apps before?

Prob the age rating thing. Had it with our kids. You can’t get iPlayer kids anymore and if your kids iPad is set up below 12 or something you can’t get normal iPlayer to even set it for kids age! It’s prob the same issue. We ended up setting an account up with an older age to get round it.

Unless its a managed device (loaned from school/work) I'd say its the IOS being out of date.  Loads of apps have a higher age rating than the family member and it will still allow it.

Thanks all. It’s a personal ipad. Set up as a child within our apple ‘family sharing’.

We do get the approval requests for other apps when he tries to install them.

I have a Minecraft Education license but on the pc version there’s no restriction on installing it, but you need the log in to use it. Id assumed the ipad would be the same. Maybe it is the age thing as suggested. It’s minecraft education rather than minecraft if that makes any difference to the age or otherwise.

Ill check the ios. However, i thought it usually told you if it was too out of date - that’s what happened on an old ipad we had that stopped being updated by apple.

if you have an apple store near you they are very good at helping getting things set up for you. I bought one for my daughter and had a mare setting it up. Took it into apple and someone sat with us for a an hour stetting it up and explaing the parental / family stuff.
